Private Advertiser in Malaysia seeks a Finance Assistant Manager (GL Reporting) to lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing, review GL accounts and ensure accurate reporting. Manage variances, balance sheet reconciliations, and intercompany activity while strengthening internal controls.

Lead and coordinate the monthly, quarterly and year-end closing process, ensuring timely and accurate completion of financial accounts.
Review General Ledger accounts and ensure transactions are accurately recorded, appropriately classified and properly supported.
Review monthly P&L and balance sheet movements, investigate significant variances and follow up on unusual or outstanding items.
Review balance sheet reconciliations and ensure reconciling and long-outstanding items are investigated and resolved on a timely basis.
Review accruals, prepayments, provisions, fixed assets, CAPEX budgetary and other key accounting schedules.
Review intercompany reconciliations and ensure differences are identified and resolved within the required timeline.
Prepare and review monthly management accounts, financial reports and supporting schedules.
Coordinate with internal and external auditors, including preparation and review of audit schedules and supporting documentation.
Follow up on audit findings and ensure corrective actions are implemented on a timely basis.
Maintain and strengthen internal controls to ensure the accuracy, completeness and integrity of financial records.
Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, company policies, tax regulations and statutory requirements.
Work closely with AP, AR, Inventory and other finance functions to ensure accurate and timely recording into the book.
Support ERP enhancements, finance automation, workflow improvements and digitalisation initiatives.
Supervise and review the work of finance team members to ensure accuracy and timely completion.
Coordinate month-end closing timelines and deliverables across the team.
Provide guidance and coaching on accounting, reconciliation and financial reporting matters.
Work closely with Operations and other departments to drive process improvements, strengthen financial controls and address accounting-related matters.
Job Requirements:
Possess at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent. Preferably with professional accountancy qualification (i.e. CA/ACCA/CIMA/CPA/ ICAEW)
Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting and finance experience, with strong hands-on exposure to General Ledger, month-end closing and financial reporting.
Preferably minimum 1-2 years of experience in a senior, supervisory or team-lead capacity.
Experience in retail, healthcare, FMCG or a multi-outlet environment would be an advantage.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
Able to work independently, manage tight reporting deadlines and take ownership of assigned responsibilities.
