Job summary

Ambition is seeking a technically strong Full Stack Developer to build scalable, high-performance applications using TypeScript, React, Next.js, and Node.js in a permanent hybrid role.

You will design, develop, and maintain full stack solutions, create secure RESTful APIs and GraphQL endpoints, optimise databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL), implement authentication (JWT/OAuth), and collaborate across teams through the full development lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Relevant degree or diploma in computer science or software engineering.
• Minimum 3 years hands-on full stack development experience.
• Strong TypeScript proficiency with React, Next.js and Node.js.
• Experience building RESTful APIs and GraphQL services.
• Database design and optimisation with PostgreSQL or MySQL; ORM knowledge (Prisma).
• Secure coding practices, authentication (JWT/OAuth) and web security basics.
• Experience with AWS, Docker, CI/CD, Git workflows and Agile development.
• Ability to learn new technologies and leverage AI-assisted tools.

Responsibilities

The Role

Design, develop, deliver - here's what you'll be responsible for:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable full stack applications using TypeScript across frontend and backend technologies
• Build responsive, accessible user interfaces with React and Next.js while delivering exceptional user experiences across web platforms
• Develop secure, high-performance backend services, RESTful APIs, and GraphQL endpoints using Node.js frameworks such as Express or Fastify
• Design, optimise, and maintain relational databases while ensuring application performance, reliability, and scalability

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the software development lifecycle, from solution design and development through testing, deployment, and production support

What We're Looking For

A technically strong, solution-oriented software engineer:

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related discipline
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in full stack software development
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript with proven experience developing applications using React, Next.js, Node.js, Express, or Fastify
• Experience designing and integrating RESTful APIs and/or GraphQL services
• Solid knowledge of PostgreSQL or MySQL, including database design and optimisation, with experience using ORM tools such as Prisma
• Familiar with frontend state management, testing frameworks, secure authentication methods (JWT/OAuth), and modern web security best practices
• Experience with AWS, Docker, CI/CD pipelines, Git workflows, and Agile software development practices
• Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills, with a passion for learning new technologies and leveraging AI-assisted development tools such as Claude, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot
