Job summary

754 Altera Semiconductor Technology (M) Sdn. Bhd. seeks an experienced Firmware Validation Engineer in Penang, Malaysia to validate FPGA workflows on pre-/post-silicon platforms.

You will translate customer usage into test cases and drive end-to-end validation of hardware, firmware, drivers and applications. The role focuses on system-level behaviour, automating tests with Python/C/C++, and collaborating across firmware, hardware and software teams to ensure reliable, production-ready embedded

Qualifications

• 8-9+ years hands-on firmware/embedded system validation.
• Strong understanding of embedded systems, microcontrollers, SoCs, and low-level firmware architecture.
• Proficiency in Python and C/C++.
• Experience with Git, Jira, Jenkins, or CI/CD systems.
• Experience with FPGA system-level configuration and PR areas.
• Experience in automotive/industrial/safety-critical embedded systems.

Responsibilities

• Validate component, system and user acceptance validation.
• Develop validation plans, test strategies, and coverage matrices for embedded firmware and system-level functionality.
• Analyse requirements and derive end-to-end use cases.
• Define acceptance criteria and validation coverage for each use case.
• Design, implement, and execute automated test cases; perform various testing types.
• Debug, root-cause analysis and triage defects across boundaries.
• Collaborate with firmware, hardware and architecture teams to resolve issues.
• Maintain CI/CV infrastructure, test environments and automation frameworks.
