Job summary

Big Corridor Sdn Bhd is seeking a Senior Finance Executive to support the Head of Finance and lead day-to-day finance operations. You will oversee the full set of accounts and drive improvements while leveraging AI-enabled workflows to increase efficiency.

You will mentor junior team members, maintain strong financial controls, and collaborate with other departments to deliver accurate reporting and business insights. This role is based in Malaysia and requires hands-on leadership.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge with full-set accounts and month-end closing.
• 4+ years of relevant accounting experience, with consolidation exposure.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities for financial reporting.
• Good communication, organisation, and leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of full set of accounts: GL, AP, AR, fixed assets, accruals, prepayments, and month-end closing.
• Coach and supervise junior team members and maintain strong financial controls.
• Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end closings and ensure timely reporting.
• Review entries, schedules, and reconciliations for accuracy and proper accounting treatment.
• Prepare and review management accounts, financial statements, and FP&A.
• Monitor cash flow, collections, receivables, and intercompany transactions as applicable.
• Collaborate with operations to capture accurate financial data and spend analyses.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and ad-hoc analyses.
• Liaise with auditors, tax agents, and external parties; ensure compliance.

Job description

The Senior Finance Executive will play a key role within the Finance team and act as a trusted support to the Head of Finance. The role requires a strong accounting foundation, good business acumen, hands‑on leadership capability, and the ability to take ownership of day‑to‑day finance operations.

The successful candidate will be expected to lead, coach and supervise junior team members, maintain strong financial controls, improve existing processes, and progressively take ownership of broader finance functions. As the organisation continues to adopt technology and AI‑enabled workflows, the candidate should also be comfortable learning and applying new tools to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the Finance function.

Key Responsibilities

Take ownership of the full set of accounts, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, accruals, prepayments, and month‑end closing.

Act as a key support and dependable second‑in‑command to the Head of Finance, with the ability to independently manage finance matters when required.

Review accounting entries, schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documents prepared by junior team members to ensure accuracy, completeness, and proper accounting treatment.

Manage and coordinate monthly, quarterly, and year‑end financial closing, ensuring reporting deadlines are consistently achieved.

Prepare and review management accounts, financial statements, balance sheet schedules, and financial planning and analysis (FPA).

Maintain strong oversight of cashflow, collections, outstanding receivables and payment schedules

Monitor project billings, revenue recognition, project costs, work‑in‑progress, and other relevant financial information to ensure proper financial reporting and commercial visibility.

Work closely with operational teams and other departments to ensure financial information, project updates, invoices, expenses, and supporting documentation are captured accurately.

Support budgeting, forecasting, cash‑flow planning, and variance analysis, and provide meaningful explanations for significant movements against budget or prior periods.

Demonstrate leadership by proactively following up on outstanding matters, coordinating work across the team, identifying priorities, and ensuring issues are brought to closure.

Liaise with auditors, tax agents, corporate secretarial service providers, banks, payroll providers, and other external parties where required.

Support statutory, tax, audit, and regulatory compliance matters and ensure relevant schedules, documents, and submissions are properly maintained.

Be comfortable working across multiple entities and/or subsidiaries**, including intercompany transactions, reconciliations, management reporting, and consolidation‑related matters where applicable.

Proactively adopt AI tools and AI‑assisted workflows for finance‑related activities such as data analysis, reconciliation, reporting, documentation, variance investigation, workflow automation, and management insights.

Handle ad‑hoc financial analysis, management requests, special projects, system implementations, and process‑improvement initiatives as required.

Build strong working relationships across the organisation and communicate financial matters clearly to all stakeholders.

Requirements

Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline;

Strong technical accounting knowledge with solid experience handling full‑set accounts and month‑end closing

Preferably more than 4 years or more of relevant accounting experience, with previous experience in preparation of consolidated financial statements.

Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial controls, reconciliations, and financial reporting.

Strong analytical and problem‑solving capability; willing to investigate issues

Good communication skills with the confidence to present financial information and articulate the reasoning behind recommendations or accounting treatments.

Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise multiple deadlines and maintain attention to detail.

Demonstrates maturity, accountability, reliability, and a strong sense of responsibility.

Comfortable challenging existing processes and proposing more effective ways of working.
