You will partner with the Head of Finance to transform how data is captured, analysed, and reported, with a focus on project profitability, WIP, billing, and cash flow.
The role emphasizes strong accounting fundamentals, data-driven thinking, and exploring AI-enabled workflows to improve efficiency and decision-making.
We are looking for a finance professional who combines strong accounting fundamentals with an equally strong interest in data, technology, automation, and AI, and who believes these capabilities should work together to build a more effective Finance function.
The Finance Analyst - Reporting & Automation will work closely with the Head of Finance to transform how financial and operational information is captured, analysed, reported, and used across the organisation. Strong practical accounting experience, analytical thinking, and a technology-driven mindset are central to the role.

Work closely with the Head of Finance to develop and enhance the organisation’s management reporting and financial analytics framework.
Prepare, analyse, and improve recurring management reports, financial reports, dashboards, and performance analysis to support decision-making.
Develop standardised reporting formats across business units, departments, projects, and entities to improve consistency and comparability.
Consolidate financial and operational information from multiple sources and systems into reliable, structured, and meaningful management reports.
Develop and maintain dashboards covering revenue, gross profit, gross margin, project costs, WIP, billings, collections, cash flow, utilisation, and profitability.
Perform variance, trend, and profitability analysis, explaining significant movements and translating findings into clear, actionable insights.
Assist in budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling, cash-flow planning, and business performance analysis.
Take a leading role in developing project profitability reporting so management can monitor individual projects in a timely manner.
Analyse project revenue, direct costs, manpower costs, third-party costs, budget utilisation, and gross margins to identify profitability trends and financial risks.
Develop profitability analysis across projects, clients, producers, departments, business units, and other relevant dimensions.
Identify margin deterioration, cost overruns, billing delays, unusual trends, and other matters requiring management attention.
Maintain a strong understanding of the underlying accounting records and ensure management reports reconcile to financial accounts, with any reporting adjustments clearly explained.
Support month-end reporting through review and analysis of P&L, balance sheet, accruals, prepayments, revenue recognition, WIP, project costs, and supporting schedules.
Work with the accounting and operational teams to ensure reporting data is accurate, complete, consistently classified, and supported by reliable source records.
Identify repetitive manual reporting processes and recommend opportunities for automation and process improvement.
Develop and maintain automated workflows that reduce manual data extraction, consolidation, reconciliation, and report preparation.
Explore and implement practical applications of AI-assisted reporting and analytics within the Finance function.
Use AI tools to support financial analysis, variance investigation, management commentary, data validation, and reporting workflows.
Help develop AI-enabled workflows that flag exceptions, anomalies, project risks, delayed billing, cost overruns, and unusual financial trends.
Evaluate finance technologies, automation tools, and AI solutions that could improve the efficiency and effectiveness of financial reporting.
Maintain appropriate controls over automated reports and AI-assisted outputs, including validation, reconciliation, review, and protection of confidential company data.
Work with system owners, developers, and external technology partners, where applicable, to integrate financial and operational data from different systems.
Help define reporting requirements, data structures, financial KPIs, and dashboard specifications for internal systems and transformation initiatives.
Collaborate with Finance, Sales, Production, Account Management, and Management to understand business processes and reporting needs.
Improve the quality, completeness, and consistency of data captured across departments for management reporting.
Document reporting definitions, calculation methods, SOPs, and data governance practices to support consistent reporting.
Communicate financial findings and dashboard insights clearly to both Finance and non-Finance stakeholders.
Continuously review whether reports remain relevant, accurate, timely, and useful, and propose practical improvements.
Support ad-hoc financial analysis, business cases, financial modelling, system implementations, and other Finance initiatives.
Degree or professional qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
At least 3 years of relevant accounting or finance experience, ideally 3–5 years or more with exposure to financial analysis or management reporting.
Strong accounting fundamentals and prior hands‑on accounting experience are essential, including a practical understanding of financial statements and financial controls.
Experience with full‑set accounts, month‑end closing, management accounts, and P&L and balance sheet analysis is strongly preferred.
Sound understanding of accruals, prepayments, revenue recognition, cost allocation, reconciliations, and the flow of transactions into financial statements.
Experience in management reporting, financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, or FP&A will be advantageous.
Experience in project accounting, project costing, WIP, or profitability analysis within a project‑based or professional‑services business will be advantageous.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets, with confidence handling large datasets and reconciling information from multiple sources.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, including the ability to investigate discrepancies, identify root causes, and explain performance drivers.
Good communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain financial information and recommendations clearly.
Ability to work independently, take ownership, manage multiple priorities, and maintain strong attention to detail and data integrity.
An equally strong interest in data, technology, automation, and AI, supported by curiosity, initiative, and a willingness to learn and apply new tools.
Candidates should be keen to develop practical technology capabilities alongside their accounting expertise. Exposure to any of the following is advantageous:
Data preparation and reporting: advanced Excel functions, Power Query, Power Pivot, Google Sheets, or equivalent tools.
Finance and operational systems: accounting software, project‑management, and financial reporting platforms.
Someone who brings together strong financial discipline, analytical thinking, and a technology‑driven mindset.
Values accounting rigour and technological innovation, and understands how they complement each other.
Understands how numbers flow from transactions into financial statements and management reports.
Is curious about how the business operates, what drives profitability, and why financial performance changes.
Questions inefficient manual processes and translates Finance requirements into practical reports, dashboards, and workflows.
Takes initiative in learning, follows through on issues, and builds constructive working relationships across the organisation.
Progressive ownership of the organisation’s finance reporting, analytics, and automation infrastructure.
