Job description

Responsible for analyzing past financial performance to predict future performance and to advise the company on its financial strategy.

Responsible for developing and planning financial plans and reports to driving finance and accounting process improvement with key focus on elimination of redundancy and timeliness/accuracy improvements to achieve increased focus on analysis rather than reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the development of financial models and forecasts to support long-term strategic planning.

Analyze and interpret financial data, identifying trends, and presenting findings to senior management.

Evaluate the financial impact of various strategic initiatives and provide actionable recommendations.

Oversee the annual budgeting process, working closely with department heads to ensure alignment with overall company goals.

Monitor budget performance and provide variance analysis, explaining key drivers and recommending corrective actions.

Develop rolling forecasts to provide real-time insights into financial performance.

Prepare and present executive-level financial reports, highlighting key performance indicators, financial metrics, and business trends.

Collaborate with the executive team to create dashboards and reporting tools that facilitate decision-making.

Collaborate with various departments, including sales, marketing, and operations, to gather relevant financial data and insights.

Ensure financial reports and accounting records are prepared and maintained in accordance with Financial Report Standards of Malaysia, other local statutory requirements and Sime Darby Group Policies and Procedures.

Review and prepare tax computation for head office companies and subsidiaries. Ensure the completeness and accuracy of all analysis related to tax computation.

Review and ensure the accuracy of departmental overhead analysis.

Identification and implementation of process improvements and new tools/processes/systems for ongoing efficiency improvement related to all Finance/Accounting business processes.

Review of bank and creditors reconciliations and ensure all transactions are taken up accurately and follow up on any issue.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree / professional degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.

Minimum 5-6 years of professional experience as an accountant, auditor, or computer programmer analyst OR valid CPA (Certified Public Accountant) certificate with at least one year of professional experience as an accountant, auditor, or computer programmer analyst.

Familiar with computerized accounting systems – GDMS, UBS and Hyperion.

Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards.

Thorough understanding of methods of systems analysis and the principles, design, and procedural methods used in big data analysis.
