Job summary

Sime Darby Motors is seeking an experienced finance professional to manage monthly closings, budgeting, and financial reporting. The role involves supervising finance staff, ensuring statutory compliance, and driving system enhancements to support accurate accounting across departments.

Ideal candidates hold a qualified accounting credential with at least five years in corporate and operations finance, and strong interpersonal and systems development skills.

Qualifications

• Qualified Accountant and preferably a member of a professional accounting body.
• At least 5 years working experience in Corporate Finance and Operation Finance.
• Working knowledge of an integrated accounting system and aptitude for systems development.
• Good interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Close monthly accounts and ensure accuracy and completeness of monthly reporting.
• Review reconciliations to ensure correct accounting treatment and no long outstanding items.
• Ensure timely submission for statutory reports, monthly/quarterly management reports, audits and ad hoc reporting.
• Monitor, review and interpret accounting for revenue and expenditures by departments.
• Supervise Finance staff, including work allocation, training, and problem solving.
• Participate in system implementation and maintenance.
• Respond to queries from departmental heads on system/operations financial matters.
• Maintain and create chart of accounts; monitor accounting information in the finance system.

Job description

• Ensure closing of monthly account and review all accounting schedules to ensure the accuracy and completeness of monthly reporting.
• Review account reconciliations to ensure correct accounting treatment is in place and no long outstanding items.
• Ensure timely submission for all statutory report, month/quarterly management report, audit and ad hoc reporting.
• Monitor, review and interpret accounting for revenue and expenditures by departments.
• Review financial transactions to ensure accuracy, completeness and compliance with accounting standard and audit procedures.
• Supervise Finance staff, include work allocation, training, and problem solving.
• Actively participate in system implementation and maintenance.
• Attend to queries from departmental heads on system/operations problem relating to financial aspects.
• Responsible for controlling, maintenance and creation of chart of accounts.
• Provide input towards any system modeling and testing to ensure that preventive controls are built in.
• Monitor and maintain key accounting information for the operating unit within the finance system.

Budgetary Control and Variance / Profit Analysis

• Prepare the annual budget and revised forecast.
• Perform analytical review on variance between actual and budget.
• Highlight to management on shortfall of KPI and potential improvement opportunities.
• Participate in development, implementation and maintenance of policies, objectives, short and long range planning.
• Participate in the implementation of projects and programs to assist in accomplishment of established goals.

Professional Qualification:

• Qualified Accountant and preferably a member of professional accounting body.
