Job summary

Passion Republic is seeking an Environment Artist to help craft immersive environments for our games. The ideal candidate blends strong environment art skills with storytelling, lighting, color, and texture to create high-quality concept art and varied styles.

You will mentor junior teammates, lead a small team, collaborate in design discussions, and contribute to pipeline improvements. This role emphasizes collaboration and delivering on schedule within a dynamic studio.

Qualifications

• Must be passionate about environment art and able to create high-quality environment concept art.
• Strong communication and teamwork with a proactive work ethic.
• Solid understanding of composition, perspective, lighting, colour, texture and visual storytelling.
• Ability to deliver varied art styles and concepts for environments.
• Experience mentoring and leading small teams or juniors.

Responsibilities

• Complete tasks on time and with quality; set benchmarks for teammates and external partners.
• Contribute to project meetings and design discussions.
• Coordinate with project managers on scheduling and milestones.
• Mentor and guide junior teammates, sharing experience and feedback.
• Lead by example and participate in feedback loops with the team.
• Lead a team of around 3 members with balanced composition.
• Assist in recruitment by mentoring candidates during process.
• Support Lead Environment Artist and Senior Artist on tasks as needed.
• Evaluate and document tools and pipelines for improvement.

Requirements

• Passionate in Environment art.
• Well developed communication skills and expressiveness with good team player work ethic.
• Strong in design principles such as composition, perspective, Lighting, colour, texture, value and visual storytelling.
• Ability to create variety and high quality environment related concept art.
• Ability to demonstrate and execute multiple art styles.
• Resourcefulness in problem solving.
• Ability of mentoring and nurturing team members.
• 4~6 years working experience in relevant industry.
• Understand and aligned with company vision.

Bonus Skill

• Have good Blender or any 3D software knowledge.
• Understanding of gameplay and level design knowledge.
• Familiarity with game engines (e.g. Unity and Unreal).
