Job summary

PERSOL Malaysia is seeking a skilled engineer to support the development and manufacturing of Optical Interposer products. The role focuses on yield and performance improvement through data-driven defect analysis and root-cause resolution.

You will collaborate with internal teams and fabrication partners to ensure high-quality, reliable optical engine designs, and will implement systematic approaches to reduce defects and improve manufacturability.

Qualifications

• Experience in yield improvement in optoelectronics or semiconductor manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Design and optimize Optical Interposer products for yield and performance.

• Define failure modes and quantify fallout to support corrective actions.
• Monitor and present yield data from fabrication partners.

Job description

The incumbent supports the development and manufacturing of Optical Interposer products by improving yield and performance. The role focuses on data-driven defect analysis, root-cause resolution, and collaboration with internal teams and fabrication partners to ensure high-quality, reliable, and manufacturable optical engine designs.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop Optical Interposer products with a focus on yield and performance optimization
• Lead yield improvement and defect reduction initiatives across optical engine designs
• Conduct data analysis, problem characterization, and root-cause fault isolation for yield-related issues using commonality analysis, regression analysis, and systematic DMAIC problem-solving approaches
• Define and document failure modes, material impact, and fallout percentages to support corrective actions
• Monitor, track, organize, and present yield data from fabrication partners
• Implement checklists, guidelines, and "lessons learned" documentation to support ongoing yield-improvement activities
• Perform yield correlation and failure-analysis work (electrical, optical, physical) and support additional engineering tasks as assigned

About you

• Bachelor's or Master's degree with at least 5 years of experience in a process integration role, specializing in yield improvement, preferably in optoelectronics or semiconductor manufacturing
• Strong foundation in semiconductor physics and engineering fundamentals, with a good understanding of mechanical, electrical, and thermal failure mechanisms
• Proficiency in statistical analysis tools (e.g., JMP) and experience with commonality analysis, regression analysis, or systematic DMAIC problem-solving approaches
• Experience with Python programming for engineering data analysis and automation is an added advantage
• Experience in yield enhancement, defect reduction, or process improvement roles is preferred
• Lean Six Sigma certification is an added advantage
