Job summary

PROTON in Malaysia is seeking a Research and Development Engineer to manage engine R&D testbed facilities, equipment reliability, maintenance, calibration, and upgrade activities while coordinating budgets and ensuring QMS compliance.

You will lead testbed upgrades, coordinate internal teams and contractors, troubleshoot issues, monitor risks, and drive continuous improvement to keep testbeds safe, reliable, and available for engine development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical, Electrical & Electronic Engineering or equivalent
• Minimum 3–4 years of relevant working experience, preferably in Mechanical Engineering, Maintenance Engineering, Equipment Engineering or Testbed/Testing facilities
• Good knowledge of mechanical and electrical equipment operation and maintenance
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and electrical/mechanical schematics
• Basic knowledge of Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) systems
• Basic knowledge of engine dynamometer and associated equipment, systems and mechanisms
• Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Strong coordination skills when dealing with contractors, vendors and cross-functional teams
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Good communication, project coordination and technical reporting skills

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute testbed upgrading and improvement activities
• Coordinate internal teams, contractors and specialists to ensure timely completion
• Lead troubleshooting and resolution of issues during upgrading activities
• Monitor project progress, risks and technical issues to minimize operational delays
• Manage Total Preventive Maintenance (TPM) activities for testbed and supporting equipment
• Coordinate breakdown and emergency repairs to minimize equipment downtime
• Manage calibration activities for meters, gauges, pumps and other testing/measuring equipment
• Support preparation and monitoring of OPEX and CAPEX budgets
• Support daily operations compliance with ISO 9001:2015 requirements
• Drive and encourage continuous improvement initiatives within the testbed/shopfloor environment
