Job summary

Cognizant in Malaysia is seeking a Senior Developer to design, develop and optimize enterprise-grade solutions using SQL, OpenText AppWorks, AppWorks Entity REST API and Java for card and payment processing.

You will implement robust components, tune queries, and extend REST API integrations with partners while translating business requirements into technical designs and ensuring secure, compliant transactions.

Role Summary

Senior Developer role within a global cards and payments technology team, focusing on designing, developing and optimizing enterprise grade solutions using SQL, OpenText AppWorks, AppWorks Entity REST API and Java, while ensuring secure, resilient and compliant processing of card and payment transactions that directly support business growth and enhance customer trust.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop robust components using OpenText AppWorks and Java that support complex cards and payments workflows while ensuring maintainability and scalability across multiple environments.

• Implement optimized SQL queries and database structures that ensure accurate, high-performance processing of card transactions and payment operations while maintaining data integrity and regulatory compliance.

• Configure and extend AppWorks Entity REST API solutions that enable secure integration between internal platforms and external partner systems supporting seamless digital payment journeys.

• Analyze business requirements for cards and payments products and translate them into detailed technical designs and implementation plans aligned with enterprise architecture guidelines.

• Collaborate with product owners and business analysts to refine user stories, clarify edge cases, and ensure that developed features meet functional and nonfunctional expectations for payment processing.

• Conduct unit testing, integration testing and regression testing for all developed components ensuring that transaction flows, reconciliation processes and exception handling behave reliably in production. Troubleshoot and resolve defects in SQL logic, Java services and AppWorks configurations by performing systematic root cause analysis and implementing sustainable fixes.

• Optimize system performance by tuning SQL queries, refactoring Java code and adjusting AppWorks configurations to reduce latency and improve throughput for high volume payment scenarios.

• Create and maintain technical documentation covering solution design, configuration details, REST interface specifications and deployment procedures that support sustainable operations.

• Collaborate with operations and support teams to ensure smooth deployments, monitor production health and provide guidance during incident resolution for card and payment applications.

• Apply secure coding practices and data protection standards across SQL, Java and REST interfaces to safeguard sensitive cardholder data and meet organizational security policies.

• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by suggesting enhancements to development practices, automation scripts and reusable components within the cards and payments platform.

• Mentor junior developers by sharing best practices in SQL, OpenText AppWorks, AppWorks Entity REST API and Java to raise overall team capability and delivery quality.
