Kagina Pte Ltd in Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia is seeking a DBA Senior to lead and optimize our database infrastructure. You will design architectures, ensure security, and guide junior DBAs within a fast-moving ICT environment.

Responsibilities span tuning, backup/recovery, and capacity planning across Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MySQL, with cloud platforms like AWS/Azure/Google Cloud. Strong scripting and collaboration skills are essential.

Formación

• 7+ years of professional experience in database administration and development within complex IT environments.
• Advanced proficiency with major database management systems: Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MySQL.
• Strong knowledge of database design, data modelling, and normalisation principles.
• Proven expertise in database performance tuning, query optimisation, and indexing strategies.
• Solid understanding of database security, encryption, authentication mechanisms, and compliance requirements.
• Experience with backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning and implementation.
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as T-SQL, PL/SQL, Python, or Bash for automation tasks.
• Familiarity with cloud database platforms (AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database, or Google Cloud SQL) is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of virtualization technologies and containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes) is preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to work independently and within a team.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Relevant certifications such as Oracle Certified Associate DBA, Microsoft Certified: Data Administrator, or similar are advantageous.

Responsabilidades

• Design, implement, and maintain robust database architectures and infrastructures to support business requirements
• Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimisation strategies to ensure optimal system efficiency
• Manage database security protocols, access controls, and backup and recovery procedures to protect sensitive data
• Perform database administration tasks including installation, configuration, upgrades, and patching across multiple database platforms
• Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for database systems, procedures, and configurations
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues, providing timely technical support to internal teams and stakeholders
• Collaborate with application development teams to optimise database queries and ensure best practices are followed
• Plan and execute database capacity management and resource allocation strategies
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior database administrators and support staff
• Implement disaster recovery and business continuity protocols to minimise downtime and data loss
