Job summary
Jora Malaysia is seeking a Senior DB Architect to lead IBM DB2 to AWS Aurora PostgreSQL/MySQL migration and modernization initiatives. The role requires deep database architecture and cloud migration expertise, with strong documentation and stakeholder management skills.
Responsibilities include defining migration roadmaps, discovery and planning, designing HA/DR architectures, and leading data migration, validation, and cutover efforts. Mentoring DBAs and project teams is also expected.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of database architecture experience
- IBM DB2 LUW, SQL, and performance tuning expertise
- Hands-on with AWS DMS and SCT for migration projects
- Migration, schema conversion, validation, and reconciliation skills
- Strong HLD/LLD development and technical documentation proficiency
- Excellent presentation, consulting, and stakeholder management abilities

- Define DB2-to-AWS Aurora migration strategy and roadmap
- Conduct database discovery, assessment, and migration planning
- Design AWS Aurora target architecture including HA/DR, backup, and recovery
- Prepare HLD, LLD, migration design documents, and runbooks
- Lead schema conversion, data migration, validation, reconciliation, and cutover activities
- Develop cutover and rollback strategies
- Drive architecture reviews, governance, risk management, and technical decisions
- Present solutions to customers and senior stakeholders
- Mentor DBAs, developers, and project teams
