Job summary

Micron Technology, Inc. is seeking a data scientist to design and deploy computer vision and AI solutions for manufacturing and environmental monitoring.

You will lead end-to-end data science projects, collaborate with engineering, operations and quality teams, and mentor engineers in data science tools. The role requires 3+ years in data science, strong ML and CV skills, and experience with GCP, Python, SQL, and C++.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, or Data Science with at least 3 years of data science experience.
• Strong foundation in statistical modeling and modern ML techniques.
• Experience in semiconductor yield analysis & process optimization (e.g., FDC, SPC, Probe data).
• Minimum 3 years in computer vision and deep learning for image analytics.
• Experience deploying end-to-end production-grade AI solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Proficiency with web development such as Angular, FastAPI, Docker.
• Strong Python proficiency with at least 3 years hands-on SQL and C++.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills; able to convey insights to non-technical audiences.
• Able to work independently and collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced environments.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement computer vision systems and DL models for detection, segmentation, anomaly detection, and automated inspection.
• Apply few-shot learning, generative AI, and multimodal fusion to manufacturing and environmental monitoring.
• Lead cross-functional collaboration with engineering, operations, and quality teams; manage projects and mentor engineers.
• Develop methods to analyze unstructured big data to generate actionable insights for product improvement.
• Interact with product and service teams to identify questions for data analysis and experiments.
• Deploy data science models end-to-end: design, development, deployment, maintenance, monitoring.
• Extract insights from large data sources and communicate findings to managers.

Responsibilities

• Primary Responsibility, but not limited to Design and implement computer vision systems & deep learning models for object detection, image segmentation, anomaly detection, and automated inspection, including experience with cameras and vision inspection systems.
• Apply advanced AI techniques including few-shot learning, generative AI, and multimodal fusion (text, image, time-series) to solve manufacturing and environmental monitoring challenges.
• Lead cross-functional collaboration with engineering, operations, and quality teams, including experience in project management, technical writing, and training/mentoring engineers in data science tools.
• Design, develop, and program methods, processes, and systems to consolidate and analyze unstructured, diverse “big data” sources to generate actionable insights and solutions for product improvement.
• Interact with product and service teams to identify questions and issues for data analysis and experiments.
• Deploy data science models and lead the end-to-end life cycle, including solution design, development, deployment, model maintenance and monitoring.
• Identify relevant insights from large data and metadata sources; interpret and communicate insights and findings from analysis and experiments to product, service, and business managers.

Minimum Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, or Data Science with minimum of 3 years of data science experience.
• Foundation in statistical modeling, advanced analytics, and modern machine learning techniques.
• Experience in semiconductor yield analysis & process optimization (e.g analyzing FDC, SPC, Probe data).
• Minimum of 3 years experience in computer vision and deep learning in image analytics with good understanding of image processing techniques.
• Experience in deploying end-to-end production grade AI solution in cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Proficiency with web development such as Angular, FastAPI, Docker.
• Strong proficiency in Python, with minimum of 3 years hands‑on experience in SQL, C++.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, able to effectively convey complex data insights to non‑technical audiences.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills.
• Able to work independently and collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
• Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and deliver high‑quality results in fast‑paced, dynamic environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with and applying generative AI and large language models (LLMs) in various areas such as image generation.
• Contributions to top-tier conferences such asCVPR,NeurIPS,ICML, orKDD(Note: This is not a research-focused role).
• Experience in optimizing production ML Models for performance and scalability.
