Job summary

PowTech Solution (M) Sdn. Bhd is hiring a Senior Data Engineer to own the data platform and build infrastructure for operational analytics, governance, and AI capabilities.

You’ll shape data systems end-to-end, mentor through collaboration, and drive platform decisions at scale. You’ll design scalable pipelines, data models, and governance infra while working with product and engineering teams to ensure data quality, security, and performance.

Qualifications

• 5–7+ years of professional software engineering experience, with ownership of production data systems end-to-end.
• Strong data engineering fundamentals: ETL/ELT design, data modeling, batch and streaming processing.
• Proficiency in at least one general-purpose programming language and building production-grade backend systems.
• Experience with cloud-native data platforms or lakehouse architectures.
• Ability to work autonomously and lead technical decisions.
• Excellent communication to explain trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end design and delivery of data pipelines from ingestion to serving.
• Design data models and storage architectures to support operational and analytical workloads.
• Build and maintain infrastructure for data quality, observability, and governance.
• Contribute to platform architecture and collaborate with engineers as priorities shift.
• Design systems extensible for AI/retrieval-based features over time.
• Participate in key technical decisions and surface trade-offs.
• Collaborate with stakeholders on platform and deployment choices.
• Work with data sensitivity and regulatory constraints.
