Job summary

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure seeks a Senior Data Centre Design Mechanical Engineer in Kuala Lumpur to lead mechanical design across data centre projects, defining standards and driving performance, safety and reliability. You will partner with developers, colocation providers and internal teams to deliver resilient cloud infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Design Ownership and Technical Leadership: lead mechanical services design and engineering workstreams for data centre projects and strategic design initiatives; provide technical direction to meet reliability, scalability, safety, maintainability and operational excellence.
• Design Standards and Engineering Governance: contribute to creation, maintenance and improvement of mechanical design standards, specs, policies and procedures; review documentation to ensure alignment with standards.
• Subject Matter Expertise: act as SME for data centre infrastructure systems including cooling, ventilation, water systems, plant configuration, redundancy strategies, controls interfaces and resilience.
• Partner and Colocation Provider Engagement: collaborate with colocation providers, developers, consultants, contractors and internal stakeholders to ensure mechanical systems are properly designed, installed, commissioned and capable.
• Complex Problem Solving: analyze and resolve complex technical and cross-functional issues; develop recommendations for system-level improvements and risk mitigation.
• Project and Program Execution: drive mechanical deliverables across projects; track risks, support design reviews and ensure timely decisions.
• Commissioning and Technical Assurance: participate in design summits, workshops, commissioning reviews, site reviews and readiness assessments; validate design intent and safety.
• Contract and Commercial Support: provide technical input to contracts, change orders, cost forecasts, and technical clarifications.
• Safety and Operational Standards: apply strong safety/maintenance requirements in design reviews; ensure safe access, inspection and emergency response.
• Mentorship and Knowledge Sharing: mentor junior engineers and share knowledge; support team capability growth.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: work with electrical, controls, network, compute, operations, procurement and construction teams; communicate clearly.
