Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) in Malaysia seeks an experienced legal professional to provide legal support on banking products and contracts. You will review service agreements, IT contracts, and advise on regulatory matters to internal stakeholders.

The role requires a professional law degree with 10–12 years of banking legal experience, strong communication, and analytical skills. The position involves risk management tasks and may include training responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Professional law degree requirements (LLB or equivalent).
• Certificate of Legal Practice/Bar is required.
• Qualified lawyer with 10–12 years of experience in legal practice or in-house banking.
• Understanding of banking products, contract law and related legislation.
• Strong communication and analytical abilities are essential.

Responsabilités

• Provide legal support and advise on banking products and bank policies.
• Review and draft service agreements and IT contracts (intragroup and vendor).
• Research and provide opinions on legal matters and regulatory developments to internal stakeholders.
• Coordinate learning or external trainings for relevant stakeholders.
• Monitor court orders served on the Bank.
• Assist in risk management exercises.
• Carry out other duties as assigned by Head of Legal Department.
