Job summary

AI Rudder is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer / Tech Lead for its KL R&D center. The role blends hands-on coding with technical leadership, architecture decisions, and mentorship of the local backend team.

You will own the technical roadmap for core backend services, work with Golang and Python, and drive large-scale systems while collaborating with teams across China and Southeast Asia.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend development experience, with 3+ years using Golang in production.
• 1+ years of team management or tech lead experience; capable of cross-team coordination.
• Strong system design and architecture skills for distributed systems.
• Proficiency in English; Chinese language is a plus for collaboration with China-based teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture design and technical decision-making for intelligent conversational robot systems and AI SaaS platforms.
• Own the technical roadmap: evaluate trade-offs, drive technology selection, ensure scalability and reliability.
• Design and implement core backend services using Golang and Python for high-concurrency and distributed systems.
• Drive innovation projects based on LLM / large language models and product capabilities.
• Establish and enforce engineering best practices: code review, CI/CD, testing, monitoring, alerting.

The KL R&D Center is our core overseas engineering hub, responsible for building and iterating our product and technology stack locally. We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer / Tech Lead to join and help lead the KL engineering team. This role combines hands-on technical leadership with team management, serving as the technical backbone of the local R&D center. You will drive architecture decisions, own the technical roadmap for key systems, and mentor a growing engineering team — while still writing and reviewing production code daily.

Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

• Lead the architecture design and technical decision-making for intelligent conversational robot systems and AI SaaS platforms.
• Own the technical roadmap: evaluate trade-offs, drive technology selection, and ensure the system is scalable, reliable, and maintainable.
• Design and implement core backend services using Golang and Python, covering high-concurrency scenarios, distributed systems, and API architecture.
• Drive innovation projects based on LLM / large language models, exploring new product capabilities and engineering approaches.
• Establish and enforce engineering best practices: code review standards, CI/CD pipelines, testing strategies, monitoring and alerting.

Team Management

• Manage and grow the local backend engineering team: task planning, sprint coordination, performance feedback, and hiring.
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.
• Serve as the communication bridge between KL R&D center and headquarters (Shanghai), ensuring alignment on priorities, progress, and technical direction.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field.
• 5+ years of backend development experience, with 3+ years using Golang in production environments.
• Strong system design and architecture skills; proven experience leading the design of complex distributed systems.
• Deep understanding of Linux, network protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP/2, gRPC), and common middleware (Redis, Kafka/RabbitMQ, MySQL/PostgreSQL, MongoDB, etc.).
• 1+ years of team management or tech lead experience; comfortable with task allocation, code review ownership, and cross-team coordination.
• Proficiency in English — able to participate in technical discussions, write documentation, and communicate with both local and overseas teams. Added advantage if able to converse in Chinese as collaboration is expected with China-based teams.
• Strong logical thinking, ownership mentality, and the ability to independently drive projects from ambiguous requirements to production delivery.

Preferred

• Hands-on Python development experience; familiarity with Python ecosystem for AI/ML or scripting use cases.
• Experience with AI/LLM integration, prompt engineering, or building AI-powered product features.
• Experience working in cross-cultural, distributed teams (especially China + Southeast Asia collaboration). 。
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS / GCP / Alibaba Cloud) and containerized deployment (Docker, Kubernetes).
