Job summary

Ryt Bank is seeking a Lead Backend Engineer in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. You will shape backend platform evolution, guide engineers, and ensure scalable, secure systems that power our digital banking products.

You will lead architectural discussions, set standards, and mentor teams to deliver high-performance services while collaborating with product, frontend, QA, SRE, and platform teams across domains.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of backend experience (inferred from role seniority).
• Strong proficiency in Java or other OOP languages.
• Experience with messaging systems such as Kafka and relational/non-relational databases.
• Familiarity with designing and consuming web APIs, and containerized apps (Docker, Kubernetes).

Responsibilities

• Design scalable microservices and event-driven architectures for digital banking capabilities.
• Define and evolve backend architecture standards and best practices.
• Lead technical design discussions and trade-offs across domains.
• Mentor engineers, review designs, and raise technical craftsmanship.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Frontend, QA, SRE, and Platform teams to deliver end-to-end solutions.
• Drive architectural evolution and explore innovative engineering ideas.
