Job summary

Businesslist is seeking a seasoned Mechanical Design Engineer in Kuala Lumpur to lead end‑to‑end development of customized automation equipment. You will design structures with SolidWorks and AutoCAD, optimize concepts, and prepare detailed drawings and specs for seamless integration with electrical and software teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years in custom automation machinery or special‑purpose design.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD for full machine design.
• Strong understanding of conveyors, robotics, fixtures and tooling.
• Experience delivering end‑to‑end product development from concept to commissioning.
• Excellent problem‑solving and root cause analysis skills.
• Collaborates with R&D, production, electrical teams and suppliers.
• Professional English; Mandarin preferred for HQ/regional communication.

Responsibilities

• End‑to‑end mechanical design and development of customized automation equipment.
• Design mechanical structures and assemblies using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• Develop innovative machine concepts and optimize designs for cost and manufacturability.
• Prepare detailed drawings, assembly docs and technical specs.
• Collaborate with electrical/software engineers for seamless integration.
• Resolve mechanical design and manufacturing challenges throughout projects.
• Participate in prototype, testing, commissioning and optimization activities.
• Conduct design reviews; ensure performance meets specs and quality.
• Coordinate with suppliers on components, procurement reviews and QC.
• Support installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and improvements onsite.
• Lead and support overseas deployments; travel as required.
