Job summary

IMA Automation Malaysia Sdn Bhd in Penang is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to develop automated production equipment. You will craft innovative mechanical solutions aligned with customer specs and project goals.

You will work with cross-functional teams and deliver detailed drawings, BOMs, and technical documents while ensuring quality and timely project delivery. Travel may be required to support installations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or related field.
• Proven experience in mechanical design, preferably in automation or industrial equipment.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles, machine components, and manufacturing processes.
• Experience using 3D CAD software and engineering design tools.
• Familiarity with automated production equipment and mechanical system integration.
• Ability to perform engineering calculations and evaluate design solutions.
• Good command of English, written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop automated production equipment and special-purpose machinery per customer specs.
• Prepare layouts, detailed designs, and drawings to ensure reliable solutions.
• Collaborate with Controls, Software, Purchasing, Fabrication, Applications and Service teams for integration.
• Perform calculations, design evaluations, and cost assessments to optimize designs.
• Prepare Bills of Materials (BOM) and technical drawings for manufacturing.
• Select materials and processes based on requirements and budgets.
• Ensure designs meet standards and internal quality requirements.
• Support installation, testing, and commissioning activities.
