Job summary

RS Asia Pacific in Kuala Lumpur is seeking an experienced Application Engineer to serve as a trusted technical advisor to customers and internal teams. You will blend your engineering knowledge with strong engagement skills to identify solutions and drive adoption of our product portfolio.

Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Product Management, and Business Development to influence technical decisions, support RFQs, and deliver training.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• At least 5 years of experience in an Application Engineering role or within the Electronics, Industrial, Engineering, or Technical Distribution sectors.
• Strong technical capability with the ability to analyse customer requirements and recommend practical, value-driven solutions.
• Experience supporting business growth through technical sales, customer engagement, project development, and specification activities.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical application knowledge and support across strategic product offerings.
• Support customers with product selection, application, implementation, usage, functionality, quality requirements, and training to ensure successful adoption of solutions.
• Attend customer sites when required to understand application requirements, identify challenges, and recommend suitable solutions from the product portfolio.
• Handle technical enquiries professionally through phone, email, and face-to-face interactions while maintaining a high level of customer service.
• Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Product, Supplier, and Business Development teams to support technical sales strategies and drive business growth.
• Provide technical guidance and industry insights to support customer engagements, specification opportunities, design-in activities, and project development.
• Conduct product and category training sessions for internal sales teams and customers to enhance product knowledge and solution-selling capabilities.
• Assist in responding to RFQs, conducting product demonstrations, delivering customer training, and supporting industry trade shows and technical events.
• Work closely with customers and internal stakeholders to provide value-added engineering advice, proof-of-concept activities, product verification, and technical assessments.
