Job summary

Jora Malaysia in Penang is seeking an experienced Senior Application & Database Support Engineer to back ChipFab, Wafer Cert and PA Engineering environments, ensuring system availability and manufacturing continuity. You will provide hands-on production support, monitor MS SQL Server, troubleshoot databases, and collaborate with Engineering and Infrastructure teams.

A strong background in SQL and database maintenance is essential, with onsite Penang requirement.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in Computer Science, IT, or Software Engineering.
• 8–13+ years of experience in application or database production support.
• Strong hands-on experience with MS SQL Server and SQL.
• Experience with Oracle PL/SQL is an advantage.
• Proven troubleshooting in production environments.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Provide production and on-call support for ChipFab and Wafer Cert production database systems.
• Support PA Engineering applications, SQL databases, servers and related production systems.
• Monitor and troubleshoot MS SQL Server / SQL database issues, including availability and performance.
• Perform database performance optimization and health checks.
• Troubleshoot application, database and server-related production incidents.
• Work with engineering and infrastructure teams to resolve issues.
• Conduct RCA for recurring production issues.
• Participate in after-hours and weekend on-call rotation.
• Maintain technical documentation and incident records.
• Support changes, deployments, patches and production validation.

Weekend: On-call standby based on rotation

We are looking for an experienced Senior Application & Database Support Engineer to support business‑critical manufacturing applications and database systems in Penang. This position will provide hands‑on production support for ChipFab, Wafer Cert and PA Engineering environments, ensuring system availability and manufacturing continuity.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide production and on‑call support for ChipFab and Wafer Cert production database systems, ensuring minimal disruption to manufacturing operations.
• Support PA Engineering applications, SQL databases, servers and related production systems.
• Monitor and troubleshoot MS SQL Server / SQL database issues, including database availability, connectivity, queries, jobs and performance.
• Perform database performance optimization, monitoring, preventive maintenance and health checks to ensure system stability.
• Troubleshoot application, database and server‑related production incidents.
• Support equipment integration systems and investigate application/database connectivity or data‑flow issues.
• Perform incident investigation and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for recurring or critical production issues.
• Work closely with Engineering, Infrastructure, Database and other technical teams to resolve production incidents.
• Proactively monitor systems and identify potential issues before they impact manufacturing operations.
• Support application/database changes, deployments, patches and production validation when required.
• Maintain appropriate technical documentation, troubleshooting procedures and incident records.
• Participate in after‑hours and weekend on‑call support based on the agreed rotation.

Requirements

• Degree/Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering or related discipline.
• Ideally 8–13+ years of experience in Application Support, Production Support, Database Support or a related technical role.
• Strong hands‑on experience with MS SQL Server / SQL.
• Experience with Oracle PL/SQL will be an added advantage.
• Strong experience in application and database troubleshooting within production environments.
• Experience in SQL database monitoring, performance optimization and preventive maintenance.
• Good understanding of application servers and production environments.
• Experience supporting 24/7 or business‑critical production systems.
• Experience in semiconductor/manufacturing environments, MES, equipment integration, ChipFab, Wafer Cert or PA Engineering applications will be a strong advantage.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Able to independently handle urgent production issues and work effectively under pressure.
• Good communication and stakeholder coordination skills.
• Candidates currently based in Penang or willing to work on‑site in Penang are highly preferred.
