Job summary

Evonik Malaysia is seeking a Senior Analyst in Cost Accounting to support daily and monthly close processes and ensure accuracy across Asia Pacific and EMEA regions.

You will work with Local Financial Services, SSC, and Center of Excellence teams to maintain strong controls, resolve issues, and drive process improvements while meeting deadlines.

Qualifications

• Holds a Degree or Professional Qualification in Accounting or Finance.
• Minimum 4-5 years of relevant working experience.
• Strong communications skills both verbal and written in English.
• Proficiency in SAP or other major ERP systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform Cost Accounting transactions with accuracy, timeliness and completeness.
• Execute month-end, quarter, and year-end close activities per SOPs.
• Collaborate with Local Financial Services and regional teams for timely closures.
• Maintain relationships with SSC, Local Services and Center of Excellence.
• Ensure closing timelines meet corporate requirements and SOPs.
• Support internal control documentation and audits and advise on issues.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform Cost Accounting transaction and ensuring delivery quality in terms of accuracy, completeness and timeliness on daily basis
• Execute month end close steps, quarter & year end close activities in accordance with work instructions and month end closing checklist
• Collaborate and work with Local Financial Services and other functional teams to ensure timely and accurate closure of accounts for Evonik companies across Asia Pacific and EMEA region in accordance with work instructions and SmartClose checklist.
• Establish and maintain strong working relationship with Local Services, other teams within the SSC and Center of Excellence
• Ensure that closing timelines meet the Group Corporate requirements
• Ensure all work instructions, standard operating procedures are complied. Review and elevate local specific variances to Key Accountant/Team Lead for further assessment and discussion
• Ensure queries are attended to and resolved in a timely, responsible and proactive manner
• Perform troubleshooting of issues and challenges related to Cost Accounting processes
• Execute Internal Control System according to the guideline and ensure the Internal Control System documentation is in place
• Supporting Local Financial Services in terms of internal and external audit
• Support in the implementation of project initiatives rollout by Global team
• Support standardization across regions and globally by focusing on alignment of end to end business process areas, system and tools.
• Continuously explore alternatives in driving process improvement and harmonization in areas of operation
• Undertake any ad hoc assignment, projects and migrations that may be assigned from time to time.
• Able to coach and provide guidance/ solutions if there are issues faced by the analyst/ junior analyst on work related matters. Identify skill gap and develop upskilling training for the team
• Perform back up duty as and when required.
• Assist in managing on boarding process and knowledge retention for the team
• The Senior Analyst will be responsible for daily/monthly KPIs for the assigned tasks and to ensure all deadlines are adhered to.
• Resolve accounting issues in consultation with the Key Accountant / Team Lead / Functional Manager.

REQUIREMENTS

Education, Certification and/or relevant experience required

• Holds a Degree or Professional Qualification in Accounting or Finance.
• Minimum 4-5 years of relevant working experience.

Additional skills and abilities required for this position

• Strong communications skills both verbal and written in English.
• A team player, meticulous, able to work under pressure and tight deadlines.
• Proficiency in languages would be an added advantage depending on the individual assignment, different language skills will be required.

Technical Knowledge (E.g. specialized knowledge required to perform all the required tasks)

• Knowledge and understanding on IFRS, General Accounting principles and Accounting functions.
• Experience working in SAP or other major ERP system’s work environment would be an added advantage.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills - able to identify and troubleshoot system issues.

Others (if required by the position)

• Computer literate and competent in Microsoft office
• Ability to organize workload, adapt quickly to change, ability to meet deadlines and execute commitments.
• Exposure to shared services environment would be advantageous.
