Job summary

Evonik Malaysia is seeking a Cost Accounting Analyst to manage daily cost accounting transactions and ensure timely, accurate close processes. You will collaborate with Local Financial Services and regional teams to maintain compliance with work instructions and closing calendars.

The role requires a degree in accounting/finance, 2–3 years of experience, and strong English communication. Proficiency with SAP/ERP and Microsoft Office is preferred, with attention to detail and the ability to work

Qualifications

• Holds a Degree or Professional Qualification in Accounting or Finance.
• Minimum 2-3 years of relevant working experience.
• Strong communications skills both verbal and written in English.
• A team player, meticulous, able to work under pressure and tight deadlines.
• Proficiency in languages would be an added advantage.
• Knowledge and understanding on IFRS, General Accounting principles and Accounting functions.
• Experience working in SAP or other major ERP system’s work environment would be an added advantage.
• Computer literate and competent in Microsoft Office
• Ability to organize workload, adapt quickly to change, meet deadlines and execute commitments.
• Exposure to shared services environment would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Perform Cost Accounting transaction and ensuring delivery quality in terms of accuracy, completeness and timeliness on daily basis.
• Execute month end close steps, quarter & year end close activities in accordance with work instructions and month end closing checklist.
• Collaborate with Local Financial Services and other functional teams to ensure timely and accurate closure of accounts for Evonik companies across Asia Pacific, EMEA & America region.
• Establish and maintain strong working relationship with Local Services, other teams within the SSC and Center of Excellence.
• Ensure that closing timelines meet the Group Corporate requirements.
• Ensure all work instructions and SOPs are complied with and escalate variances as needed.
• Attend to queries in a timely, responsible and proactive manner.
• Troubleshoot issues and challenges related to Cost Accounting processes.
• Execute Internal Control System per guidelines and maintain documentation.
• Support Local Financial Services in internal and external audits.
• Assist in project initiatives rollout by Global team.
• Support standardization across regions and globally by aligning end-to-end processes, systems and tools.
• Explore process improvement and harmonization opportunities.
• Undertake ad hoc assignments, projects and migrations as assigned.
• Provide guidance with support from Key Accountant and Senior Analyst if issues arise.
• Perform back-up duties as required.
• Support knowledge transfer within the team.
• Manage daily/monthly KPIs for assigned tasks and meet deadlines.
• Resolve accounting issues with Key Accountant/Team Lead/Functional Manager.

Responsibilities

• Perform Cost Accounting transaction and ensuring delivery quality in terms of accuracy, completeness and timeliness on daily basis
• Execute month end close steps, quarter & year end close activities in accordance with work instructions and month end closing checklist
• Collaborate and work with Local Financial Services and other functional teams to ensure timely and accurate closure of accounts for Evonik companies across Asia Pacific, EMEA & America region in accordance with work instructions and SmartClose checklist.
• Establish and maintain strong working relationship with Local Services, other teams within the SSC and Center of Excellence
• Ensure that closing timelines meet the Group Corporate requirements
• Ensure all work instructions, standard operating procedures are complied. Review and escalate local specific variances to Key Accountant/Team Lead for further assessment and discussion
• Ensure queries are attended to and resolved in a timely, responsible and proactive manner
• Perform troubleshooting of issues and challenges related to Cost Accounting processes
• Execute Internal Control System according to the guideline and ensure the Internal Control System documentation is in place
• Supporting Local Financial Services in terms of internal and external audit
• Support in the implementation of project initiatives rollout by Global team
• Support standardization across regions and globally by focusing on alignment of end to end business process areas, system and tools.
• Continuously explore alternatives in driving process improvement and harmonization in areas of operation
• Undertake any ad hoc assignment, projects and migrations that may be assigned from time to time.
• Able to provide guidance with support from Key Accountant and Senior Analyst if there are issues faced by the junior analyst on work related matters.
• Perform back up duty as and when required.
• Support in knowledge transfer activities for the team.
• The Analyst will be responsible for daily/monthly KPIs for the assigned tasks and to ensure all deadlines are adhered to.
• Resolve accounting issues in consultation with the Key Accountant / Team Lead / Functional Manager.

Requirements
