Job summary

Hitachi Rail Limited in Kuala Lumpur invites applications for a Senior Accountant. You will manage financial accounting, compliance, and reporting for a large international group, with strong focus on accuracy, controls and timely close.

Responsibilities include general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, budgeting support, and stakeholder liaison. A bachelor's degree in accounting/finance and SAP experience are essential; ACCA/CPA advantageous for career progression within a global company.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance or related field.
• Professional accounting qualifications like ACCA/CPA/CA/CIMA are advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of financial accounting principles and internal controls.
• Experience maintaining full set of books in a large international organization.
• Experience with SAP systems and financial reporting tools.

Responsibilities

• Book recordings and month-end close in accordance with standards and policies.
• Maintain general ledger, journal entries and account classifications.
• Process cash receipts, payments, tax transactions and related activities.
• Ensure regulatory, financial reporting and tax compliance.
• Perform balance sheet, P&L, intercompany and bank reconciliations.
• Identify discrepancies; maintain internal controls and support audits.
• Prepare periodic financial statements, management reports and schedules.
• Assist consolidation and cash flow reporting.
• Provide financial analyses for management decision-making.
• Support external reporting and regulatory submissions.
• Assist budgeting and forecasting processes; conduct variance analysis.
• Support cost accounting and allocation of costs where applicable.
• Oversee or support AP/AR activities; monitor collections and payments.
• Communicate accounting policies to stakeholders; collaborate with internal teams.

Senior Accountant (Ref.No. R0141998)

Key Responsibilities

Financial Accounting & Compliance

• Ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions in accordance with applicable accounting standards, company policies, and statutory requirements.
• Maintain and manage the general ledger, including journal entries, account classifications, and month-end closing activities.
• Process and review cash receipts, payments, tax transactions, and other financial activities.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory, financial reporting, and taxation requirements.

Account Reconciliation & Controls

• Perform regular reconciliations of balance sheet accounts, profit and loss accounts, intercompany balances, and bank accounts.
• Identify and resolve discrepancies, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of financial records.
• Maintain effective internal controls and support audit requirements.

Financial Reporting

• Prepare periodic financial statements, management reports, and supporting schedules.
• Assist in the preparation of consolidated financial statements and cash flow reports.
• Generate financial analyses and reports for management decision-making.
• Support external reporting requirements, including regulatory and compliance submissions.

Budgeting & Cost Management

• Support annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Conduct variance analysis and provide insights into financial performance.
• Assist with cost accounting functions, including allocation of direct and indirect costs where applicable.

Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable & Credit Management

• Oversee or support Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable activities.
• Monitor customer collections and outstanding receivables.
• Ensure timely vendor payments and effective credit management practices.

Stakeholder Support

• Collaborate with internal departments to provide accounting guidance and financial information.
• Support internal and external audits by preparing required documentation and explanations.
• Communicate accounting policies, procedures, and financial information effectively to stakeholders.

You have:

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CPA, CA, CIMA) is an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of financial accounting principles, reporting standards, and internal controls.
• Proven experience in maintaining full set of books in a large international organization
• Experience with SAP systems and financial reporting tools. Malaysia and International tax management proven expertise
