Job summary

EdgeConneX is seeking a Security Systems & Technology Engineer for the APAC region. The role focuses on operating, maintaining, and upgrading physical security systems across Asia Pacific data centers, with collaboration across Security Operations, Design & Integration, IT, and vendor partners.

You will travel regionally 25-40% during peak projects, support global platform initiatives, and ensure audit-ready systems.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain access control, video surveillance, and intrusion systems in APAC data centers.
• Support regional and global projects, incidents, and short-term coverage as needed.
• Serve as SME for LenelS2/OnGuard, ExacqVision, and Genetec across the portfolio.
• Deliver upgrades and migrations per the global security roadmap.
• Configure systems, perform firmware updates, health monitoring, and user management.
• Troubleshoot faults to root cause and coordinate vendors for on-site work.
• Maintain standards, runbooks, and lifecycle plans for deployed systems.
• Coordinate with IT on networking and cybersecurity hardening for security systems.
• Assist audits with evidence collection and findings closure.

Security Systems & Technology Engineer - APAC

is the hands‑on technical specialist for EdgeConneX’s physical security systems, with a primary focus on the Asia Pacific data center fleet and support to other regions as the portfolio requires. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Security Systems & Technology, the role operates, maintains, and supports access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, and perimeter systems, and delivers upgrades, migrations, and new‑site commissioning under the global systems roadmap. The Engineer works day to day with Security Operations, Security Design & Integration, IT, and vendor partners to keep systems healthy, standardized, and audit-ready. Flexibility to travel regionally and internationally of 25-40% or more during project delivery peaks is essential.

This is an on‑site role based in Cyberjaya.

Primary Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, and support physical security systems, including access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, and perimeter systems, with a primary focus on the Asia Pacific data center fleet.
• Support other regions as required, including global platform projects, major incident response, and short‑term coverage, as directed by the Senior Manager.
• Serve as a technical subject‑matter expert for LenelS2/OnGuard, ExacqVision, and adjacent platforms (e.g., Genetec where deployed) across the portfolio.
• Deliver upgrades, migrations, and rebuilds under the global security systems roadmap, to the standards and timelines agreed with the Senior Manager, Security Systems & Technology.
• Perform system administration, including configuration, software and firmware updates, health monitoring, preventive maintenance, and support for user and credential management.
• Troubleshoot and resolve system faults to root cause, coordinating vendors and integrators for on‑site work and driving corrective actions to closure.
• Apply and maintain technical standards, runbooks, and lifecycle plans for deployed systems, and feed lessons learned back into global standards.
• Support security systems vendors and integrators, including scoping service visits, verifying work quality, and escalating performance issues to the Senior Manager.
• Coordinate with EdgeConneX IT on networking, server infrastructure, OS lifecycle, patching, and cybersecurity hardening for security systems.
• Partner with Security Operations and Security Design & Integration on installs, commissioning, site turnover, and ongoing support of deployed systems.
• Track system health, drive continuous improvement, and report status and KPIs to Security leadership.
• Support internal and external security audits, including evidence collection, reporting, and closure of findings.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Strong written and verbal communication, including the ability to document configurations, fault reports, and as‑built records clearly for internal stakeholders and vendors.
• Deep hands‑on expertise with enterprise physical security systems and the ability to act as the technical specialist for the portfolio.
• Proven ability to prioritize and execute across a global, distributed portfolio with consistent attention to detail.
• Strong troubleshooting discipline, including structured fault isolation, root cause analysis, and clear escalation when needed.
• Ability to direct vendors and integrators on site and hold them to performance requirements and agreed scopes of work.
• Strong follow‑through: drives corrective actions to closure and prevents repeat issues.
• Confident working with internal and external stakeholders, including customers, in a fast‑moving environment.
• Working knowledge of cybersecurity, network, and IT infrastructure considerations relevant to physical security systems.
• Comfortable working independently across global time zones and shifting priorities, including planned out‑of‑hours maintenance windows and regular calls with teams in Europe and the Americas.

Experience/Education

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, information systems, security management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years of hands‑on experience operating and supporting enterprise physical security systems, including access control, video surveillance, and intrusion detection, across multi‑site environments.
• Demonstrated experience delivering security systems upgrades, migrations, or new‑site commissioning against agreed plans and standards.
• Familiarity with common industry hardware manufacturers (e.g., AXIS, HID) and hands‑on expertise with enterprise physical security platforms including LenelS2/OnGuard/Genetec and CCTV platforms.
• Experience working with security systems vendors and integrators on installs, service delivery, and fault resolution.
• Working knowledge of (or demonstrated ability to learn) EN 50600, PCI DSS, SOC 2, and ISO 27001.
• Proficiency with Visio, Lucidchart, AutoCAD, or comparable drawing and diagramming tools.
• Knowledge of, and experience supporting, security‑related audits and certifications, including evidence collection and closure of findings.
• Experience in data centers, critical infrastructure, telecommunications, or other controlled environments strongly preferred.
