Job summary

Ascent Education Sdn. Bhd. is seeking a School Science Laboratory Assistant to support primary and secondary science classes. You will help teachers with experiments, assist students, and ensure safety in the laboratories.

The role involves setting up equipment, maintaining tidy labs, handling chemicals safely, and coordinating with the Purchasing Department for materials and orders. A Diploma in Science/Lab and ICT proficiency are preferred.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Science/Laboratory (or equivalent).
• Evidence of continued relevant professional development.
• At least 1 year of working experience, preferably in an educational institution with a laboratory background.
• Demonstrates experience of using ICT to manage laboratory.
• Respect for all members of a school community, with a positive and solution-focused attitude.

Responsibilities

• Setting up and taking down lab equipment as specified by teachers.
• Assist teachers in conducting experiments when instructed.
• Assist students during experiments under teacher guidance.
• Prepare laboratory materials required by teachers.
• Maintain tidiness and organization of laboratories daily.
• Label, organize and store chemicals with safety awareness and periodic inventory.
• Mix chemicals required for experiments.
• Store and dispose of chemical waste safely.
• Clean and store glassware.
• Ensure equipment are in good working condition and inventoried.
• Maintain aquaria/live specimens where necessary.
• Inventory science materials, chemicals, apparatus, and equipment.
• Purchase materials not available from school supplier as requested.
• Prepare chemical orders with teachers and submit to Purchasing Department.
• Check orders on delivery for completeness and condition.
• Fill and organize resource materials.
• Organize audio-visual materials and software.
