Job summary

International Schools Partnership Limited in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a proactive Science Laboratory Assistant to support the teaching staff in the Science Department and to assist with the safe and efficient running of the laboratory.

You will prepare materials, maintain equipment, handle stock and ensure health and safety procedures are followed to support students during practical work and investigations.

Responsibilities

• To prepare materials and equipment as required by the departmental staff.
• To prepare practical lessons & examinations; setting out apparatus, cleaning away waste materials, etc.
• To refill, label, and clean laboratory reagent bottles, acids, alkalis, indicators.
• To make up stock solutions when required.
• To assist the department staff with the delivery of practical lessons and under the instruction/guidance of the teacher to support pupils during practical work/demonstrations.
• To ensure rooms and equipment are kept clean and tidy and that safety regulations are met, including checking equipment for safety, cleaning, and sterilizing equipment, and advising pupils on safety aspects of particular practical.
• To Maintain current and up-to-date MSDS on all chemicals in the lab.
• Prepare a budget related to science lab materials required each year, and liaise with the purchasing officer to purchase appropriate inventory as required.
• To carry out routine checking of equipment, maintaining regular inventories of materials, books, and equipment and conducting regular stock takes, repairing faults, and arranging for repair where this cannot be performed in-house.
• To maintain a safe working environment for staff and pupils and to ensure the health and safety procedures are followed at all times.
