Job summary

Sophic Automation Sdn Bhd seeks a proactive Safety & Health professional to monitor site safety, support EHS plans, and ensure contractor compliance. The role covers inspections, incident investigations, training, and reporting across projects in Malaysia.

The ideal candidate holds a relevant OSH qualification (SHO preferred) and has strong communication and organizational skills to manage safety in a fast-paced project environment. Training and development opportunities available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in OSH or Environmental Science.
• Engineering or related disciplines.
• SHO, Green Book holder or equivalent safety certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitor site safety and verify adherence to safety standards and procedures.
• Support implementation of project-specific EHS plans, safe work practices and risk controls.
• Ensure contractors and suppliers comply with site safety requirements before and during project execution.
• Conduct routine site inspections, safety walks, and compliance audits.
• Lead or support investigations of safety incidents or near-miss events and perform root cause analyses.
• Maintain incident reports and ensure timely closure of corrective actions.
• Deliver daily toolbox talks and safety inductions for new contractors and suppliers.
• Coordinate with supplier safety representatives and contractor supervisors; review safety performance.
• Prepare daily, weekly and monthly EHS performance reports and present metrics to project management.

• Ensure compliance with all site EHS policies, local regulations, and customer safety requirements.
• Monitor AMHS project activities to verify adherence to safety standards and procedures.
• Support implementation of project-specific EHS plans, safe work practices, and risk controls.
• Ensure contractors and suppliers comply with site safety requirements before and during project execution.

2. Site Safety Monitoring & Enforcement

• Conduct routine site inspections, safety walks, and compliance audits.

• Stop unsafe work when necessary and implement immediate corrective actions.
• Verify proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Identify unsafe conditions, unsafe behaviors, and potential project hazards.
• Perform risk assessments and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) reviews.
• Work with stakeholders to establish mitigation plans and corrective actions.
• Lead or support investigations of safety incidents or near miss events.
• Conduct root cause analysis and recommend preventive actions.
• Maintain incident reports and ensure timely closure of corrective actions.
• Communicate lessons learned across the project team.

5. Safety Training & Awareness

• Conduct daily toolbox talks and safety briefings.
• Facilitate project safety inductions for new contractors and suppliers.
• Promote safety awareness campaigns and continuous improvement initiatives.

6. Contractor & Supplier Safety Management

• Coordinate with supplier safety representatives and contractor supervisors.
• Review contractor safety performance and compliance records.
• Conduct periodic safety audits and performance evaluations.

6. Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain safety records and documentation including:
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly EHS performance reports.
• Present safety performance metrics to project management and stakeholders.

Education & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma In Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Science
• Engineering or related disciplines.
• Certified Safety and Health Officer (SHO), Green Book Holder, or equivalent safety certification is preferred
