Job summary

HATIMUDA SDN BHD in Pasir Gudang, Malaysia, is seeking a Health and Safety Officer to uphold safety standards across our road construction, design, contracting, and maintenance projects. You will implement safety management systems, conduct inspections, and ensure regulatory compliance.

The role focuses on risk assessment (HIRARC), incident investigations, training delivery, PPE enforcement, emergency planning, and liaison with DOSH/BOMBA.

Qualifications

• Identify workplace hazards and perform HIRARC.
• Ensure compliance with safety laws, standards and guidelines.
• Coordinate safety trainings and inductions.
• Enforce proper PPE usage and safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with all applicable occupational safety and health laws, regulations, standards, and guidelines.
• Conduct regular safety inspections at the workplace and prepare inspection reports accordingly.
• Identify workplace hazards, conduct Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment and Risk Control (HIRARC), and recommend appropriate control measures.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-miss occurrences, prepare relevant reports, and recommend appropriate corrective and preventive actions.
• Plan, coordinate, and conduct safety training, new employee safety inductions, and safety awareness programmes.
• Ensure proper and consistent use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) by all employees.
• Act as the Secretary of the Occupational Safety and Health Committee and prepare meeting minutes and relevant documentation.
• Develop, review, update, and maintain occupational safety and health policies, procedures, records, and documentation.
• Monitor contractors and visitors to ensure compliance with the company's safety rules, procedures, and requirements.
• Coordinate emergency response and fire drills and ensure that emergency response plans are regularly reviewed and updated.
• Liaise with relevant authorities, including DOSH/BOMBA, during inspections, audits, or official matters.
• Prepare monthly OSH performance reports for management review.
• Ensure that all safety-related work permits and permit-to-work requirements are properly complied with prior to commencement of work.
• Perform any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Management from time to time.
