Job summary

MTD Group is seeking a Safety & Health Officer to plan, implement, and monitor the safety management system at the construction site for the Pan Borneo Sabah Project WP33, ensuring compliance with OSHA, FMA, and other laws, while preventing accidents and hazards.

The role involves developing SHP, enforcing safety policies, conducting risk assessments, supervising high-risk activities, and coordinating safety training and emergency drills across project teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Professional certifications (NEBOSH, OSHA, ISO 174001, ISO 45001) & Green book.
• 5 years of relevant working experience.
• Experience in construction of highway project is an added advantage.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the Safety & Health Plan (SHP) in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Establish and enforce safety policies, procedures, and control measures.
• Conduct HIRARC and JSA, identify hazards, and implement risk control measures.
• Monitor high-risk activities (e.g. working at height, lifting operations).
• Carry out regular site inspections and safety audits.
• Monitor subcontractor safety performance and compliance.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, and recommend corrective actions.
• Prepare safety reports, statistics, and required documentation for management and authorities.
• Maintain and update safety records, including inspection, incident, and training records.
• Organize safety training, induction, awareness programme and safety campaigns.
• Conduct emergency drills, including fire drills and evacuation exercises.
• Develop and implement emergency response plans and ensure availability of emergency equipment.
• Advise management on safety improvements and ensure safety is integrated into work planning.
• Assist in enforcement of site safety rules and coordination with site teams and stakeholders.
• Participate in safety meetings and discussions with relevant parties.
