Position Summary
The Solution Manager plays a pivotal bridge role between business development, engineering teams, and prospective clients. You will be responsible for translating complex customer operational requirements into technically sound, cost-effective, and scalable industrial automation solutions. This role requires technical depth, business acumen, and strong proposal architecture skills to drive solution design from conceptualization through pre-sales support and handover to execution teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and guide a technical team of pre-sales engineers, solution architects, and mechanical designers to drive high-quality proposal delivery.
- Allocate engineering resources effectively across multiple tenders, pre-sales inquiries, and proposal submissions.
- Establish standard operating procedures (SOPs), design templates, and technical review guidelines for the solution design team.
2.Solution Architecture & Technical Design
- Design and architect end-to-end factory automation, robotic, vision inspection, or material handling systems according to client specifications.
- Conduct detailed technical feasibility studies, cycle time calculations, footprint planning, and ROI analysis for proposed automated solutions.
- Evaluate and select appropriate hardware, PLCs, industrial robots, sensors, software, and third-party systems for integrated project proposals.
- Collaborate closely with Sales Executives to participate in client discovery meetings, site visits, and technical requirement gathering.
- Prepare comprehensive technical proposals, Bill of Materials (BOM), project timelines, costing models, and Scope of Work (SOW) documents.
- Present solutions, conceptual layouts, and value propositions directly to client stakeholders, key decision-makers, and technical teams.
4.Project Scoping & Handover
- Define clear boundary limits and technical specifications to mitigate project risks and budget overruns.
- Work closely with Internal R&D, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, and Software teams during the proposal phase to validate technical feasibility.
- Facilitate seamless handover of awarded projects to Project Managers and Engineering execution teams with complete design packages and specifications.
- Monitor emerging industry trends, Industry 4.0 automation technologies, and competitor offerings.
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with key technology vendors and component suppliers to source competitive automation components.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Automation, or a related engineering field.
- Minimum 5-8 years of hands-on experience in factory automation, robotics, system integration, or special-purpose machinery (SPM).
- Prior experience as a Solution Architect, Pre-Sales Manager, or Senior Automation Project/Design Engineer is highly preferred.
- Solid understanding of industrial robotics (e.g., Fanuc, ABB, KUKA, Yaskawa, or cobots), PLC systems, vision systems, and conveyor systems.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, ProgeCAD) for system layout and conceptual modeling.
- Strong capability in cost estimation, vendor evaluation, and drafting detailed engineering specifications.
- Exceptional presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills in English (proficiency in Mandarin or Bahasa Malaysia is an advantage).
- Strong problem-solving mindset with commercial awareness and client-facing confidence.
