Job summary

5G-Starlink Pte. in Malaysia seeks an Automation Engineer to lead machine electrical panel design and automation from concept through FAT and commissioning.

You will develop control systems, safety programs, HMIs, and PLM documentation, collaborating across engineering and production. The role requires a bachelor’s in Electricals & Electronics, at least 10 years’ experience in OEM or maintenance, and strong English communication.

Qualifications

• Experience in developing machine electrical panels and control systems from concept to completion.
• Bachelor's degree in Electricals & Electronics Engineering or related field with extensive OEM/maintenance experience.
• Strong knowledge of electrical circuit design, standards, and component selection.
• Proficient in written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Lead machine electrical panel design and automation from start to end of the engineering process.
• Prepare machine startup and FAT testing plans and ensure alignment with project requirements.
• Review electrical diagrams and BOMs for accuracy and updates.
• Develop PLC programs, control systems, safety programs, and HMIs as per project needs.
• Support installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and production floor fine-tuning.
• Create and maintain electrical design databases and standard programs for reuse across projects.

About the job Automation Engineer - Malaysia

Main Tasks

• To lead machine electrical panel design & automation works from Start till the End of engineering process.
• To prepare machine startup & testing planning to suite machine FAT plan.
• To carry out electrical circuit detail design and able to justify the design with calculation and other design basic.
• To select and size appropriate electrical components to suite project requirement with engineering calculation and supporting document.
• To review and ensure Electrical BOMs are accurate and updated all the time.
• To prepare machine program, control system, safety program and HMI program as per project requirement.
• To startup machine, program testing, troubleshooting and fine tuning in production floor as per planning.
• To support machine installation and commissioning at site as when required.
• To update and compile electrical diagrams & information into PLM after FAT.
• To prepare machine site installation guide for any leftover electrical & automation works after FAT.
• To initiate and prepare standard operating procedures and work instructions for electrical circuit designs and machine control system.
• To provide technical support to Production department on engineering issues and to troubleshoot customer issues with Services.
• To create, enhance and maintain a pool of electrical design database and standard program database that could be used as when required for other projects.
• To participate in process improvement activities that promotes business excellence through cross functional activities, in collaboration with other departments.
• To carry out any other duties that maybe assigned to you by the management from time to time.

Information Technology

• Standard office hardware and software.
• Highly computer literate and must be proficient in using ePLAN P8, Isagraf, Automation Studio, SafeDesigner B&R, and Visiwin.
• Good understanding of PLM on daily works.

Competences & Qualifications

• Must be highly experienced in developing machine electrical panel and control system (Mechatronic) from conceptual ideas until full completion of machine with full aid of engineering calculations.
• Has a bachelors degree in Electricals & Electronics Engineering or any related qualification with at least 10 years working experience in original equipment manufacturing or maintenance.
• Has good knowledge of electrical circuit design, design standards, techniques, procedures, simulation and standard components selection.
• Has good command of written & spoken English.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Able to read and understand electrical diagram and process flow chart.
• Knowledge of PLC programming such as ladder diagram, function block and etc.
• Self-motivated, creative and pro-active with good teamwork spirit.
