Job summary

WD is seeking an Equipment Engineer to support substrate manufacturing equipment and Automation implementation. You will own equipment performance, drive data-driven improvement, and help scale IIoT across facilities.

You’ll collaborate with engineering teams, design and test automation solutions, integrate control systems and sensors, and document progress and results to ensure quality, yield, and capacity improvements. This role requires hands-on analysis and problem solving.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics Engineering / Electrical & Electronics Engineering (or CS with hardware exposure).
• SolidWorks proficiency or similar engineering software is a plus.
• Programming: C++, Python, SQL, PLC beneficial.
• Knowledge of communication protocols, hardware-software interface, and signal processing.
• Experience in technical report writing, field data collection, equipment condition assessment and Digital Twin.

• Collaborate with engineering teams to identify opportunities for automation improvements.
• Assist in designing, testing, and implementing automation solutions including hardware and software components.

Job Description

The Equipment Engineer is responsible for supporting and optimizing the substrate manufacturing equipment and Automation implementation/Integration. This role combines hands-on Equipment ownership and operational excellence with applied engineering analysis, ensuring consistent equipment stability, product quality, yield improvement, and Capacity Improvement and OEE. The engineer will also contribute to data-driven research and improvement initiatives to advance equipment capability.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Collaborate with engineering teams to identify opportunities for automation improvements.
• Assist in designing, testing, and implementing automation solutions, including hardware and software components.
• Support the integration of control systems, sensors, actuators, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs) to optimize performance.
• Document project progress, technical specifications, and outcomes for future reference and compliance. Stay updated on emerging automation technologies and contribute innovative ideas to improve system capabilities.
• Deliver Factory/Equipment digitalization solution and IIOT proliferation.

Qualifications

REQUIRED:

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechatronics Engineering / Electrical & Electronics Engineering. Candidates from Computer Science with exposure and interest in Hardware and encouraged to apply.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks, or equivalent engineering software will be added advantage.
• Programming skills: C++, Python, SQL, PLC will be added advantage.
• Knowledge in Communication Protocol, Hardware Software Interface, Analog/Digital signal processing will be added advantage.
• Experience in technical report writing, field data collection, equipment condition assessment and Digital Twin.
• Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail in operational environments
