Job summary

WD in Malaysia is seeking an Equipment Engineer to support substrate manufacturing equipment, driving stability, quality, yield, and OEE. You will own equipment tasks and contribute to data-driven improvement initiatives.

You will collaborate with engineering teams to implement automation solutions, maintain control systems and PLCs, and document progress for compliance. A Bachelor’s in mechanical/electrical/mechatronics is required, with knowledge of SolidWorks and MATLAB/Python being a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in relevant engineering fields.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks or equivalent.
• Programming/data analysis: MATLAB, Python, C++, or R.
• Knowledge in Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Heat Transfer, and Structural Mechanics.
• Experience in technical report writing, field data collection, and equipment condition assessment.
• Strong problem-solving with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

Job Summary

The Equipment Engineer is responsible for supporting and optimizing the substrate manufacturing equipment. This role combines hands‑on Equipment ownership and operational excellence with applied engineering analysis, ensuring consistent equipment stability, product quality, yield improvement, and process stability and OEE. The engineer will also contribute to data‑driven research and improvement initiatives to advance equipment capability.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Qualifications REQUIRED

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering / Electrical & Electronics Engineering / Mechatronics Engineering. Candidates from Computer Science with exposure and interest in Hardware and encouraged to apply.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks, or equivalent engineering software will be added advantage.
• Programming/data analysis skills: MATLAB, Python, C++, or R will be added advantage.
• Knowledge in Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Heat Transfer, and Structural Mechanics will be added advantage.
• Experience in technical report writing, field data collection, and equipment condition assessment.
• Strong problem‑solving skills with attention to detail in operational environments.
