Job Summary Responsible for motherboard/PCBA troubleshooting, repair, rework, inspection, testing, and maintenance of rework equipment at Fab9. The technician will support production and engineering teams in resolving board-level defects and ensuring repaired assemblies meet quality and functional requirements.
Job Description:
- Perform motherboard/PCBA component-level repair and rework.
- Troubleshoot defective boards using schematics, PCB layouts, technical drawings, and rework equipment.
- Perform SMD and through-hole component replacement, soldering, desoldering, and solder touch-up.
- Operate SRT rework machine for component and board-level rework according to approved process parameters.
- Operate and maintain solder pot equipment for soldering/desoldering and applicable component rework processes.
- Operate X-Ray inspection equipment to inspect solder joints, BGA, QFN and other hidden solder connections.
- Analyze X-Ray images and identify defects such as voids, insufficient solder, bridging, opens, misalignment, and solder joint abnormalities.
- Perform BGA/fine-pitch component rework where applicable.
- Conduct visual inspection using microscope and other inspection equipment.
- Perform electrical and functional testing after repair to verify motherboard/PCBA performance.
- Work with Eng on the failure analysis and root-cause investigation for recurring motherboard/PCBA defects and support on the CIP.
- Maintain proper ESD controls and follow IPC workmanship standards and company procedures.
- Experience on preventive maintenance and basic troubleshooting of rework equipment, including SRT machine, solder pot, X-Ray system, soldering stations, hot-air stations, and related equipment.
- Maintain accurate records for equipment maintenance, repair, calibration, downtime and spare parts. Follow all applicable safety, ESD, quality, and environmental requirements.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Certificate/Diploma in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
- Hands-on experience in motherboard/PCBA repair and rework.
- Strong soldering and component replacement skills.
- Preferred experience operating rework equipment such as SRT, Solder Pot, X-Ray preferred.
- Basic knowledge of BGA, QFN, fine-pitch and SMD components.
- Able to read schematics, PCB layouts, BOMs, and technical drawings.
- Able to use DMM, oscilloscope, DC power supply, microscope, and other electronic test equipment.
- Basic knowledge of equipment preventive maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Good understanding of ESD and IPC-A-610 / IPC-7711/7721 requirements.
- Able to troubleshoot problems systematically and work independently.
Experience required:Fresh Graduates or 1–2 years related experience in Electronics Company (PCBA).
