Job summary

Noorjahan Bakery ipoh is seeking a friendly Retail Assistant to join our team. You will manage daily retail operations, assist customers, and ensure an inviting bakery environment in Ipoh.

Fresh graduates are welcome; prior retail or bakery experience is a plus. You should communicate in Bahasa Malaysia with basic English, be punctual, honest and customer-focused, and willing to work weekends.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers warmly and provide friendly, professional service.
• Assist customers in selecting bakery products, cakes and pastries.
• Promote bakery products, special offers and seasonal promotions.
• Handle customer enquiries, feedback and complaints professionally.
• Operate the POS system and process customer purchases.
• Handle cash, QR payments and other electronic transactions accurately.
• Maintain accurate sales and transaction records.
• Arrange and replenish bakery products on display shelves.
• Ensure attractive product presentation and correct price labelling.
• Monitor product freshness, expiry dates and stock availability.
• Follow FIFO stock rotation.
• Report low stock, damaged products or quality concerns to management.
• Maintain cleanliness of display counters, shelves and retail areas.
• Follow food hygiene, safety and handling procedures.
• Prepare packaging materials, cake boxes and takeaway orders.
• Coordinate with the bakery production team on product availability.
• Support promotional activities and festive sales campaigns.
• Perform other retail-related duties assigned by management.

Job description

We are looking for a friendly, responsible and hardworking Retail Assistant to join our bakery team. The successful candidate will be responsible for daily retail operations, customer service, product presentation, sales transactions and maintaining a clean and welcoming bakery environment.

Key Responsibilities

Greet customers warmly and provide friendly, professional service.

Assist customers in selecting bakery products, cakes and pastries.

Promote bakery products, special offers and seasonal promotions.

Handle customer enquiries, feedback and complaints professionally.

Assist with birthday cake orders, pre-orders and customer collections.

Operate the POS system and process customer purchases.

Handle cash, QR payments and other electronic transactions accurately.

Ensure proper cash handling and daily sales reconciliation.

Maintain accurate sales and transaction records.

Arrange and replenish bakery products on display shelves.

Ensure attractive product presentation and correct price labelling.

Monitor product freshness, expiry dates and stock availability.

Follow FIFO (First In, First Out) stock rotation.

Report low stock, damaged products or quality concerns to management.

4. Store Cleanliness & Hygiene

Maintain cleanliness of display counters, shelves and retail areas.

Follow food hygiene, safety and handling procedures.

Ensure proper packaging and handling of bakery products.

Maintain a neat, organised and welcoming shop environment.

5. Daily Store Operations

Assist with shop opening and closing procedures.

Prepare packaging materials, cake boxes and takeaway orders.

Coordinate with the bakery production team on product availability.

Support promotional activities and festive sales campaigns.

Perform other retail-related duties assigned by management.

Job Requirements

Fresh graduates and candidates without experience are welcome.

Previous retail, bakery, F&B or cashier experience is an advantage.

Able to communicate in Bahasa Malaysia; basic English is an advantage.

Friendly, honest, punctual and responsible.

Good communication and customer service skills.

Basic numerical skills and willingness to learn POS operations.

Able to work independently and as part of a team.

Willing to work on weekends and public holidays according to roster.

Able to maintain good personal hygiene and a professional attitude
