Job summary

Nexus EC Sdn Bhd, Malaysia, seeks a Resident Engineer with a Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering, 10+ years of construction supervision experience, and BEM-registered professional engineer status. The role is full-time on-site in Penang, overseeing infrastructure or water projects and coordinating with clients and authorities.

Responsibilities include reviewing method statements, material approvals, quality assurance, and leading monthly progress and technical meetings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in construction supervision.
• Proven experience as Resident Engineer for infrastructure or water projects.
• Familiar with Malaysian standards, authority requirements, and contract conditions.
• Strong leadership, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and report writing abilities.
• Willing to be based full-time on site in Penang.
• Registered Professional Engineer (Ir.) with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM).

Responsibilities

• Ensure the project progress in on time and well coordinated.
• To review the Method of Statement, Material Approval and other correspondence of project and respond to contractor on timely manner.
• Ensure the project quality assurance and perform quality control on site.
• Organise monthly progress meeting and technical meeting when required.
• Able to communicate with client, local authorities and private entity that are involved in this project and plan for solutions for arising matters.
• Inspect, supervise, quality control, organize and manage the installation of pipe
• The pipe works including test each pipe jointing and section upon completion of each segment.
• The backfill material criteria shall be reviewed and approved.
• Inspect all the temporary works such as cofferdam, shoring , dewatering, Traffic Management Plan and ESCP components and ensure its in accordance to compliance.
• Enforce pipeline safety protocols, including trench safety, confined space entry, and handling of hazardous materials and ensure compliance with OSHA or local standards.
