The Rehabilitation Assistant works within the Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation Department and supports therapists in delivering patient care and rehabilitation services. This role involves assisting with patient handling, transfers, and preparation for therapy sessions while maintaining a person-centered approach that prioritizes patient well-being, comfort, dignity, and independence.
Assist therapists in handling, transferring, and preparing patients for therapy sessions.
Ensure patient safety and comfort throughout therapy sessions.
Assist therapists in setting up and preparing therapy equipment.
Maintain and care for departmental equipment and assets, and report faulty equipment to the Rehabilitation & Physiotherapy Manager.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment and ensure equipment, including hot packs, wax baths, and CryoCuff devices, is properly cleaned and sanitized.
Assist therapists with billing and charging procedures for inpatient and outpatient services.
Perform receptionist and administrative duties as required.
Support the implementation and monitoring of the Person-Centered Care System by tailoring services to meet individual patient needs and preferences.
Communicate effectively with patients, family members, and members of the healthcare team to support informed decision-making and continuity of care.
Accurately document patient information and care-related activities in accordance with departmental requirements.
Diploma in Physiotherapy or a related field.
Preferably at least 1 year of relevant working experience.
Ability to build positive relationships with and motivate patients.
Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
Good physical and mental stamina, with the ability to work in a moderately demanding environment.
Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and professional ethics.
Friendly, pleasant, and caring disposition.
Knowledge of and ability to comply with standard infection prevention and control practices.
Physically fit and able to perform duties involving standing, walking, lifting, and moving patients and equipment.
