Job summary

Promatrix DC Solutions Sdn Bhd is seeking a safety-focused electrical technician/supervisor to manage high-voltage switching on 11kV and 33kV networks, including switching, isolating and earthing to enable safe maintenance.

You will perform preventive maintenance, fault diagnosis, and repairs on switchgear and substation equipment, maintain records and monitoring, issue WP permits and enforce LOTO procedures, and supervise teams including contractors during major overhauls.

Responsibilities

• High-voltage switching on 11kV and 33kV networks, including switching, isolating and earthing.
• Preventive maintenance on high-voltage switchgear, transformers and substation equipment.
• Fault diagnosis and repair to minimize downtime.
• Compliance with Electricity Regulations 1994, OSHA, and internal safety procedures.
• Substation monitoring and record-keeping of voltages, current and temperatures.
• Issue WP permits and enforce Lock-Out/Tag-Out protocols for contractors.
• Regulatory compliance with Electricity Supply Act 1990 and ST regulations.
• System monitoring via SCADA or manual inspections.
• Supervision of wiremen/technicians and external contractors during major overhauls.

Job description

High-Voltage Switching: Safely perform switching operations on 11kV, 33kV, and higher-level networks (switching, isolating, and earthing) to permit maintenance work.

Preventive Maintenance (HV/LV): Conduct routine inspections, testing, and troubleshooting on high-voltage switchgear, transformers, and substation equipment.

Fault Diagnosis & Repair: Respond immediately to electrical trips or breakdowns, identifying root causes, and performing repairs to minimize downtime.

Compliance & Safety: Ensure all work adheres to the Electricity Regulations 1994, Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA), and internal safety procedures.

Substation Monitoring: Maintain records, logs, and monitoring of system parameters (voltages, current, temperature) to ensure stability.

Safety Officer Duties: Issue Electrical Work Permits (WP) and ensure proper Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) protocols are followed for contractors/technicians.

Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring all electrical installations strictly adhere to the Electricity Supply Act 1990 and ST regulations.

System Monitoring: Conducting daily "health checks," recording meter readings, and monitoring substation performance through SCADA or manual inspections.

Supervision: Leading teams of wiremen or technicians and managing specialized external contractors during major overhauls
