Mandarin Oriental, Desaru Coast is seeking a Recreation Agent to support daily operations of the hotel’s recreational facilities, ensuring guest safety, high service levels, and engaging experiences. You will assist in organizing activities, maintaining equipment, and coordinating with other departments to deliver memorable leisure experiences.

Ideal candidates have a basic sports knowledge, strong communication skills, and the ability to work outdoors on shift schedules.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of sports, fitness activities and recreational operations.

• Ability to work in outdoor environments and on shift schedules.
• Physically fit to participate in activities.
• Lifeguard or fitness certifications are a plus.
• Basic safety and first aid knowledge is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Assist in daily operation of sports and recreational facilities (pools, beach, tennis, Lumare Beach Club) and other leisure venues.
• Welcome guests and provide information on available sports and activities.
• Ensure recreational areas are clean, safe and well-maintained.
• Set up, operate and maintain sports equipment and facilities.
• Support organization and execution of activities, fitness classes and events.
• Monitor guest participation and enforce safety rules.
• Assist lifeguarding duties if certified and required.
• Report maintenance or safety issues promptly.
• Maintain inventory of equipment and supplies.
• Provide excellent guest service and respond to inquiries.
• Set up venues for events, tournaments or special programs.
• Follow health, safety and hygiene standards; collaborate with other departments.

About the job

The Recreation Agent is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the hotel’s recreational and sports facilities, ensuring guests receive a high level of service, safety, and enjoyment. This role assists in organizing leisure activities, maintaining sports equipment and facilities, and promoting a fun, safe, and engaging guest experience in line with hotel standards.

As Recreation Agent you will beresponsiblefor the following duties:

• Assist in the daily operation of sports and recreational facilities such as swimming pools, beach areas, tennis courts, Lumare Beach Club and other leisure venues.
• Welcome and engage with guests, providing information on available sports, activities and experiences.
• Ensure all recreational areas are clean, safe, and well-maintained always.
• Set up, operate, and maintain sports equipment and facilities before, during, and after guest use, ensuring those equipment and facilities are clean, safe, and ready for use.
• Support the organization and execution of existing and new recreational activities, fitness classes, group games, special events and entertainment programs.
• Monitor guest participation in activities to ensure safety and adherence to rules and regulations.
• Assist in lifeguarding duties if certified and required, ensuring guest safety in water-related activities.
• Report any maintenance issues, safety hazards, or equipment damage to the supervisor or engineering department.
• Maintain inventory of sports equipment and supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels.
• Provide excellent guest service, respond to guest inquiries, and encourage participation in hotel activities.
• Assist in setting up venues for events, tournaments, or special recreational programs.
• Follow all health, safety, and hygiene standards as required by hotel policies.
• Work collaboratively with other departments such as Front Office, Housekeeping, Engineering, and Security to ensure smooth operations.
• Perform any other related duties assigned by the Recreation Supervisor, Manager or Management.

As Recreation Agent, weexpectfrom you:

Educational Background

• High school certificate or equivalent; Diploma in Sports Science, Recreation, Hospitality, Hotel Management or related field is an advantage.
• Previous experience in sports, recreation, hospitality, or customer service is preferred.

Skills

• Basic knowledge of sports, fitness activities, and recreational operations.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to interact with guests from different countries and cultures.
