Job summary

Spring Art Industries in Malaysia leads and manages the R&D team to develop furniture products aligned with company objectives and market opportunities. The role oversees the full product development lifecycle—from concept to prototyping, testing and commercialisation—and requires a strong background in industrial design and materials science.

The candidate should have 7–10 years of experience in R&D or product development for furniture, with proven leadership and exceptional project management

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Industrial Design, Product Design, Engineering, or related discipline.
• 7–10+ years of experience in R&D, product development, or industrial design for furniture products.
• Proven track record of leading R&D teams and taking products from concept to market.
• Strong knowledge of design principles, materials science, manufacturing processes, and CAD/3D tools.

• Lead and manage the R&D team to develop furniture products aligned with company objectives and market opportunities.

Leading and managing the R&D team to develop products in furniture that align with company objectives and market opportunities

Overseeing the full product development lifecycle, from initial concept through to prototyping, testing, and commercialisation

Conducting market research and competitor analysis to identify design trends, customer needs, and opportunities for innovation

Collaborating with cross-functional teams including procurement, manufacturing, and marketing to ensure seamless product development and launch

Staying abreast of industry standards, technological advancements, and regulatory requirements relevant to industrial design

Mentoring and developing R&D team members, fostering a culture of creativity and continuous improvement

Presenting findings, prototypes, and recommendations to senior management and stakeholders

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Engineering, or a related discipline
• Minimum 7-10 years of professional experience in R&D, product development, or industrial design especially in furniture products
• Proven track record of successfully managing R&D teams and leading innovative product development projects from conception to market launch
• Strong knowledge of industrial design principles, materials science, manufacturing processes, and design software (CAD, 3D modelling tools)
• Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously whilst meeting deadlines
• Leadership capabilities with demonstrated experience in team management, mentoring, and developing talent
• Creative mindset with a passion for innovation and continuous improvement
• Knowledge of sustainability and eco-friendly design practices is advantageous
