Job summary

Tatawa Industries (M) Sdn Bhd in Malaysia is seeking a proactive Research and Development Executive to drive new product development, lead sample testing, and upgrade existing formulations in response to market and customer demands.

You will facilitate daily R&D meetings, coordinate pre-production for new lines and packaging, monitor costs, and ensure GMP, HACCP, ISO, and TQM standards are met across regional operations.

Qualifications

• Candidates hold at least Professional Certificate, Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
• At least 1 year of working experience in the related field is required.
• Strong leadership, outstanding communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
• Ability to work in a challenging, fast-paced environment.
• Strong prioritizing skills, multitasking ability and being results-driven.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research and development for new products and test runs and improve existing formulations.
• Facilitate daily R&D meetings and organize pre-production meetings for new production lines and packaging.
• Assist in managing seasonal production operations (e.g., Mooncake production).
• Gather data to prepare cost estimates and monitor production processes for cost control.
• Track material losses (PC & PK) in dough and packaging to drive efficiency.
• Evaluate new packaging materials (trays, wrapping, boxes) and their processes.
• Update SOPs semi-annually (March and September) and implement ISO, GMP, and S&H protocols.
• Close out Non-Conformance Reports bi-monthly (Jan, Mar, May, Jul, Sep, Nov).
• Demonstrate strong leadership and effective communication within a fast-paced team.

Job description

Conduct research and development for new products based on company or marketing demands, perform sample testing (small-scale and large-scale test runs), and upgrade or improve existing products.

Facilitate daily R&D meetings, organize pre-production meetings for new production lines, items, and packaging, and assist in managing seasonal production operations (such as Mooncake production).

Gather data to prepare cost estimates, monitor production processes to maintain cost control, and track material losses (PC & PK) in production (dough, packaging) to drive efficiency improvements.

Collect detailed information and evaluate new packaging materials (such as trays, wrapping paper, boxes, cartons, inner and outer packaging) along with their respective packaging processes.

Update standard operating procedures (SOPs) semi-annually in March and September, prepare pre-standards (TW-F64, TW-F80), and actively participate in the implementation of ISO, GMP, and S&H (Safety & Health) protocols.

Follow up on and close out Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) bi-monthly (January, March, May, July, September, and November).

Requirements

Candidate must possess at least Professional Certificate, Diploma or bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
