Job summary

STAFFKING PTE LTD in Malaysia is seeking a Chemist/Senior Chemist to conduct R&D on epoxy, silicone and polymer-based materials. You will develop and optimize formulations, run experiments, evaluate materials and support product trials for customer applications.

The role includes preparing technical documentation, ensuring quality procedures and contributing to ISO 17025 accreditation efforts. Independent work and cross-functional collaboration are required.

Qualifications

• Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or Polymer Science.
• Experience in R&D, formulation development or product development.
• Practical experience in epoxy and/or silicone formulation.
• Familiarity with laboratory testing and analytical techniques.
• Experience in scale-up and troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025 or laboratory quality systems.
• Experience with external laboratories or universities is beneficial.
• Strong analytical and report-writing abilities.

Job Responsibilities

Conduct research and development of epoxy, silicone and polymer-based materials and products.

Develop, test and optimize formulations to achieve desired performance, quality and stability.

Carry out laboratory experiments, material evaluation and performance testing on new and existing products.

Evaluate new raw materials, additives, curing agents, resins and related technologies.

Investigate opportunities to improve product properties including adhesion, mechanical strength, thermal resistance, durability and shelf life.

Maintain accurate laboratory records, experimental data, formulation information and technical documentation.

Support the development of new products and applications based on market and customer requirements.

Prepare technical documents such as Technical Data Sheets (TDS), Safety Data Sheets (SDS), product specifications and application guidelines.

Provide technical support for product trials, customer applications and customized formulation projects.

Assist in establishing and improving laboratory testing capabilities, including equipment selection, testing procedures, calibration and documentation.

Develop and maintain laboratory SOPs, quality procedures and testing records in accordance with relevant standards.

Support laboratory quality management and preparation for ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation.

Work with external laboratories, research institutions, universities and technical partners on testing and R&D projects.

Participate in joint research, product development and technical collaboration projects where required.

Support product scale‑up, technical troubleshooting and transition from laboratory development to commercial production.

Ensure laboratory and R&D activities comply with relevant quality, safety and environmental requirements.

Support intellectual property and technical documentation activities related to new product development.

Job Requirements

Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Polymer Science or a related discipline.

Relevant experience in R&D, formulation development or product development within specialty chemicals, polymers, adhesives, sealants or related industries.

Practical experience in epoxy and/or silicone formulation will be highly advantageous.

Familiarity with laboratory testing, material characterization and analytical techniques.

Experience in product formulation optimization, troubleshooting and scale‑up is preferred.

Knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025 or laboratory quality systems will be an advantage.

Experience working with external laboratories, research institutes or universities is beneficial.

Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.

Good documentation and technical report-writing skills.

Able to work independently as well as collaborate with cross‑functional teams.

Candidates with stronger experience may be considered for the Senior Chemist position.
