Job summary

BEAKS CONSTRUCTION SDN. BHD. is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to manage pre- and post-contract activities, prepare monthly claims, and ensure budgets and quality standards are met on building and infrastructure projects.

The role involves liaising with contractors and suppliers, evaluating bids, and maintaining compliance with ISO 45001:2018, ISO 9001:2015, and Malaysian laws. Travel to outstation sites may be required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience.
• Proficient in supporting projects of high project value.
• Degree in Quantity Survey / Building Science / Engineering.
• Good knowledge of construction industry.
• Good knowledge of Standard Forms of Contracts.
• Willing to travel outstation for site valuation.
• Experience in buildings and infrastructure.
• Good knowledge in Government contracts.

Responsibilities

• Follows up on the pre- and post-contract of projects assigned.
• Reviews work specifications, take-off quantity, costing and liaise with contractors and suppliers.
• Evaluate works progress at site (on going project) to do monthly claim.
• Prepare all related document for monthly claim to client.
• Assists in resolving contractual and commercial issues with clients, contractors and suppliers.
• Co-ordinates the procurement of materials and suppliers for the projects and ensuring expenses within budget.
• Assists to evaluate contractors and sub-contractors’ bids and recommends awards for contracts as appropriate.
• Monitor and control project costs, ensuring that the budget is adhered to, while maintaining compliance with ISO 45001:2018 and ISO 9001:2015.
• Prepare accurate cost estimates and budgets for construction projects while ensuring compliance with ISO 45001:2018 and ISO 9001:2015.
• Negotiates with vendors for cost reduction of purchases.
• Verifies all payments are in order before payments by Company.
• Monitors all payment collections.
• Performs closing of final account.
• Assist in preparing and evaluating contracts, ensuring alignment with quality and safety standards, and complying with Malaysian laws.
• Ensure compliance with Malaysian construction laws, including safety and tax regulations.

C. Authority

• Approve Contractors/Suppliers - Approve contractors and suppliers meeting safety (ISO 45001:2018) and quality (ISO 9001:2015) standards.
• Reject Contractors/Suppliers - Reject contractors or suppliers who do not meet required safety or quality standards.
• Approve Budgets/Cost Estimates - Approve project budgets and cost estimates, ensuring they comply with safety and quality standards.
• Reject Cost Estimates/Claims - Reject cost estimates or claims that don’t meet safety or quality requirements.
• Approve Payments - Approve payments to contractors, ensuring compliance with ISO 45001:2018 and ISO 9001:2015.
