Job summary

CAPLUGS PROTECTIVE COMPONENTS (MALAYSIA) SDN. BHD. is seeking a seasoned Quality leader to formulate plant strategy and drive IATF16949 compliance across injection, painting and assembly lines.

You will lead internal audits, manage supplier quality, and coordinate 8D/CAPA processes with customers and HQ. The role requires 8+ years in automotive quality, including leadership, strong data analysis, and English communication; Chinese/Bahasa Melayu skills are a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or above in mechanical engineering, quality management or industrial engineering; Master degree preferred.
• More than 8 years of automotive quality management experience, including 3 years in Quality Manager/department leadership.
• Automotive exterior/bumper experience preferred.
• Experience in OEM audits, IATF16949 certification and quality system setup required, Malaysia/overseas plant experience preferred.
• Fluent English as working language, can independently communicate with customer and HQ senior management in English, read/write English quality standards and reports; Proficient in Chinese, Bahasa Melayu skill is preferred.
• Proficient in Office software, master Minitab, QMS quality management system, ERP quality module, can use quality data analysis tools.
• Familiar with full process of injection, painting, assembly of automotive exterior parts (bumpers, plastic tailgates) and common quality risks.
• Have quality management experience in automotive Tier 1 component plant, familiar with overseas plant operation mode.
• Willing to attend 3-6 months overseas training

Responsibilities

• Formulate plant quality strategy and annual targets, decompose to departments and track implementation; regularly report quality performance to Plant GM and HQ.
• Build quality department organization, recruit and coach staff, set KPI and performance appraisal; drive zero-defect culture.
• Establish and optimize IATF16949 system; organize internal audits and management reviews; lead third-party audits.
• Oversee customer quality management, approve 8D/CAPA reports, interface with customer senior management to resolve major quality disputes.
• Manage in-plant process and product quality for injection, painting and assembly; drive SPC, FMEA, error-proofing and other quality tools.
• Oversee supplier quality system; approve supplier admission and annual audit; drive supplier quality improvement.
• Manage lab and metrology; ensure calibration validity and data accuracy; support new product development and quality verification.
• Set annual quality budget and control costs; improve quality efficiency and cost performance.
• Participate in APQP for new projects; track PPAP submission and ramp-up quality; ensure smooth SOP with customer requirements.
• Complete other tasks assigned by Plant GM and HQ Quality Director; drive plant-wide quality culture and continuous improvement.

Quality Strategy & Target Management: Formulate plant medium-long term quality strategy and annual quality targets (customer PPM, Right First Time, quality cost, complaint closure rate), decompose to departments and track implementation, regularly report quality performance to Plant GM and HQ, drive quality target achievement.

Quality Team Building: Build quality department organization, responsible for quality team recruitment, coaching, capability development, set team KPI and performance appraisal system, motivate team growth, build zero-defect quality culture, create a professional and efficient quality team.

Quality System Management: Establish, maintain and continuously optimize IATF16949 quality management system, organize annual internal audit and management review, lead third-party certification and surveillance audits, ensure effective system operation, meet customer, regulatory and HQ requirements.

Customer Quality Overall Management: Overall manage major customer complaint handling, approve 8D/CAPA reports, interface with customer senior management to resolve major quality disputes, lead key customer system/process audits, maintain good customer relationships, ensure customer satisfaction meets standard, achieve customer quality targets.

Process & Product Quality Management: Overall manage in-plant full process quality control of injection, painting and assembly, drive implementation of SPC, FMEA, error-proofing and other quality tools, lead solving of major and repeated quality issues, reduce internal defect rate and scrap rate, improve process stability.

Supplier Quality Management: Overall manage supplier quality system, approve supplier admission and annual audit, drive quality improvement of key suppliers, handle major incoming quality issues, reduce incoming PPM, ensure stable supply chain quality.

Lab & Metrology Management: Manage plant lab and metrology room, ensure test equipment calibration validity and lab capability meets customer requirements, support new product development, quality verification and material testing, ensure accurate and reliable test data.

Quality Cost Management: Set annual quality budget, control prevention cost, appraisal cost, internal/external failure cost, reduce quality cost through improvement, optimize quality input-output ratio, improve quality efficiency.

New Product Quality Planning: Participate in new project APQP planning, set new product quality control plan, lead PPAP submission and approval, track new product ramp-up quality, ensure smooth new product SOP, meet customer quality requirements.

Complete other tasks assigned by Plant General Manager and HQ Quality Director, continuously drive plant-wide quality culture building and continuous improvement.

Required Qualification

Bachelor's degree or above, major in mechanical engineering, material engineering, quality management, industrial engineering; Master degree, Six Sigma Black Belt is preferred.

More than 8 years of automotive quality management experience, including 3 years in Quality Manager/department leadership.

Automotive exterior/bumper experience preferred.
