Job summary

Ultra Clean Technology in Malaysia is seeking a Quality Inspector IV to ensure product quality across raw materials, assemblies and final output. You will lead junior inspectors, interpret drawings, and apply advanced metrology techniques on the production floor.

The role requires strong GD&T skills, experience in semiconductor environments, and the ability to generate detailed inspection records while driving continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • 4–5 years in machine shop or clean room environments.
  • Experience in semiconductor or similar industries preferred.
  • Ability to lead and guide junior inspectors.
  • Must read and interpret engineering drawings and BOM.

Job description

UCT is looking for a talented Quality Inspector to join us in Malaysia!

The Quality Inspector IV ensures product quality and safety by performing detailed mechanical inspections across all production stages, including raw materials, assemblies, and final output. Leads and mentors junior inspectors, coordinates inspection tasks, and resolves quality issues on the production floor. Interfaces with cross-functional teams to support continuous improvement and compliance with engineering specifications. Applies advanced measurement techniques, maintains accurate documentation, and upholds a clean, safe work environment. Contributes to UCT’s commitment to excellence in semiconductor manufacturing through precision, leadership, and collaboration.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Quality control inspectors make sure that products meet standards of quality and safety.

Responsible to lead junior inspector by providing guidance on performing inspections technics and problem solving in their daily productivity and quality issue.

The quality inspector provides Quality Engineers with the necessary information required to successfully complete the assignments.

Performs mechanical inspection to ensure all quality aspects of the job are met exactly.

Inspection includes but is not limited to:

  • Raw materials, components, fabricated/manufactured parts & assemblies.
  • First Piece/First Article, Receiving/incoming inspection, in-process, final inspection.
  • Measures piece parts /components and/or assemblies.
  • Generates detail inspection and nonconformance reports as necessary.
  • Quality Inspector need to lead inspector team on the task arrangement and problem solving in the production floor.
  • Quality Inspector handle inspectors’ quality issue briefing, ensure proper tools / measurement equipment are available during inspection.
  • To monitor production flow and WIP at FQC, troubleshoot issues and recommend line improvements.
  • Checks documents for accuracy and compliance to requirements.
  • Read and interpret information from engineering drawings, travelers, specifications and other documents to generate a complete and precise inspection report/record.
  • Inspection(s) are internal.
  • Interfaces and provides support to other departments, suppliers and customers on quality related issues as necessary.
  • Requires ability to maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Attain positive results and communication through team effort.
  • Strong organizational, problem solving and analytical skills, strong attention to detail.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office applications and database software.
  • Must be computer literate!
  • Basic math abilities.
  • Must be able to read and apply production instructions, drawings, BOM schematics, and specifications in a proficient level.
  • Proficient in GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance).
  • Able to read and interpret specifications, standards and engineering drawings/Blueprints.
  • Proficient in mechanical measurement techniques and workmanship standards related to machining and secondary processes such as paint, power coat, plating, etc.
  • Proficient with weld symbols, callouts, wiring and/or crimping requirements.
  • Precision sheet metal.
  • Proficiency using handheld tools (micrometers, calipers, Optical Comparator and other measuring and test equipment.
  • Able to proficiently operate CMM’s and perform basic "CMM" measurements.
Educational/Certification Requirement:

Candidate must possess a technical SKM or Diploma in technical (Example: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical or Electronic Engineering or related Technical field), or an equivalent technical certification

  • Ability to move arms, hands and fingers.
  • Required to have visual acuity to perform assigned tasks.
  • Required to wear personal protective equipment.
  • Subject to hazards including electrical current, moving mechanical parts, exposure to chemicals and debris.
  • Required to have visual acuity to perform assigned tasks.
Overnight Travel:

Work may require out of town travel depending upon assignment (training and meeting).

Experience Requirement:
Work Experience:

4-5 years working in machine shop, assembly clean rooms. Semiconductor and/or similar industry.

Capability to direct and lead quality inspectors.
