Job summary

SLB in Malaysia seeks a Software Test Engineer to review business requirements and develop robust test strategies. You will design test cases and automated scripts, perform functional and non-functional testing, and coordinate defect tracking with cross-functional teams.

Applicants should have a degree in CS/IT, ISTQB/MSTB qualifications, experience with automation tools, and strong English communication. Knowledge of Java/XML and oil & gas ops is a plus; this role is on-site in Kuching, Sarawak.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/IT or equivalent.
• ISTQB or MSTB qualification is preferred.
• Experience with automated testing tools for database and UI testing.
• Experience in web, mobile and performance testing.
• Knowledge of quality strategy, processes and tools is advantageous.
• Working knowledge of Java, XML and OSs (Unix/Windows/Linux) is advantageous.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and teamwork skills.
• Detail-oriented, self-motivated and able to work under pressure.
• Excellent verbal and written English communication.
• Oil and gas domain knowledge is beneficial.

Job description

• Review and analysis of business requirements, functional and technical specifications for validity and feasibility.
• Development of comprehensive and well-structured test strategy, test plan, test case and automated test script.
• Functional and non-functional testing.
• Execution of manual and/or automated testing on new and existing features with high-quality test data.
• Defect tracking and analysis in collaboration with cross-functional team members, and test reporting.
• Creation and maintenance of test and quality related documentation.
• Product review and continuous improvement activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Information Technology or equivalent.
• Demonstrable involvement in software testing disciplines, preferably with professional qualifications from MSTB or ISTQB.
• Experience with automated testing tools on database as well as user interface level.
• Experience in web, mobile and performance testing.
• Knowledge of quality strategy, process and tools are advantageous.
• Working knowledge of Java, XML and various types of operating systems: Unix, Windows, Linux, etc is advantageous.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and conceptual skills with strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
• Detail-oriented, positive attitude and self-motivated.
• Possess strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Able to work under pressure and tight deadlines.
• An understanding of oil and gas field operations is beneficial.
