Job summary

Ying Hai Development Sdn Bhd in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, seeks a QAQC Engineer/Officer to oversee quality across large-scale construction projects. You will conduct site inspections, ensure drawings and specs compliance, and manage PQP/ITP, RFI, MIR, NCR processes.

The ideal candidate holds a Civil Engineering-related degree and 3–5 years QAQC experience, with knowledge of Malaysian standards, CIDB requirements, and material testing. Proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Building Technology or a related field
• Preferably 3–5 years of QAQC experience in construction, especially with main contractors
• Strong knowledge of construction quality standards, inspection procedures and quality management systems
• Familiarity with Malaysian construction standards (MS/BS/EN), CIDB requirements and project specs
• Experience with construction material testing (concrete cube tests, slump tests, reinforcement inspections, waterproofing tests)
• Proficiency in construction documentation software and standard QA/QC procedures

Responsibilities

• Conduct site inspections and monitor structural, architectural and finishing works to ensure compliance with drawings and specifications
• Prepare and implement Project Quality Plans (PQP), Inspection and Test Plans (ITP), Method Statements and QAQC procedures
• Manage RFI, MIR, NCR, corrective actions and quality documentation
• Conduct construction material testing including concrete cube tests, slump tests, reinforcement inspections and waterproofing tests
• Identify construction defects, recommend corrective actions and ensure timely rectification by subcontractors
• Coordinate inspections and quality matters with consultants, engineers, project managers, subcontractors and authorities
• Monitor subcontractor workmanship and ensure compliance with approved quality standards
• Maintain inspection records, test reports, material approvals, quality checklists and handover documentation

We are looking for a QAQC Engineer / QAQC Officer to join Ying Hai Development Sdn Bhd for large-scale construction projects in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. The role involves ensuring quality assurance and quality control across construction projects, managing inspections, documentation and compliance with construction standards.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct site inspections and monitor structural, architectural and finishing works to ensure compliance with approved drawings and specifications
• Prepare and implement Project Quality Plans (PQP), Inspection and Test Plans (ITP), Method Statements and QAQC procedures
• Manage Request for Inspection (RFI), Material Inspection Requests (MIR), Non-Conformance Reports (NCR), corrective actions and quality documentation
• Conduct construction material testing, including concrete cube tests, slump tests, reinforcement inspections, waterproofing tests and other relevant quality inspections
• Identify construction defects, recommend corrective actions and ensure timely rectification by subcontractors

About you

• Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Building Technology or a related field
• Preferably 3-5 years of relevant experience in Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QAQC) within the construction industry, particularly with main contractors
• Strong knowledge of construction quality standards, inspection procedures, workmanship requirements and quality management systems
• Familiarity with Malaysian construction standards, relevant MS and BS/EN standards, CIDB requirements and applicable project specifications
• Knowledge of construction material testing, including concrete cube tests, slump tests, reinforcement inspections, waterproofing tests and other relevant quality inspections
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office/WPS and relevant construction documentation software
• Strong analytical, communication, organizational and problem-solving skills, with the confidence to report non-compliant works and recommend corrective action
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple inspections and meet project deadlines
• Proficiency in English and Bahasa Malaysia; Mandarin proficiency is an added advantage
• Possession of a valid CIDB Construction Personnel Registration Card (Green Card), where required for site access
